seanhoyt got a reaction from worldwideweb in Adding color boxes to choose product variants
I believe I did get it working with that code above but I have abandoned Squarespace ecommerce and now use Webflow. It should be something native to Squarespace by now but it's not which is always surprising to me because it's obvious that Squarespace has talented programmers and managers.

Hi guys! I was a wedding photographer for 16 years but this year I’ve transitioned fully over to property photography and landscape art photography. I’m also an average level programmer, big time orchid grower (250!) and about to start building and selling 3D-printer orchid products.
Here’s my main site for landscape photography which does have a bit about my orchid growing:

I develop on Webflow which supports webp. But, I have a large commerce site in sqsp 7.0. I sell photography. Webp is a pretty big deal if I can cut out 2/3 of the site's meat.
I'm looking at a few files I did for comparison. The jpeg fed into jpegmini is 1.3MB. The webp at 65 compression is 500KB. I do a compare and there's not a noticeable difference in quality.
RE: Fluid Engine and 7.1 in general, It's clear that Squarespace's mission is: "Design anything without knowing how to design". Feels like it makes designers' lives harder but I need to probe further into FE.

Ok, got it. I was firing the jquery change() and didn't realize it was looking for me to make my own change code instead of triggering the listeners for the select created by squarespace.
document.querySelector("select[data-variant-option-name='Color']").dispatchEvent(new Event("change")); Works now.
