  1. To follow up on @silvabokis... It is a good habit to always save your images for web at jpeg quality level 8. At screen resolution, there is no discernible difference between level 8 and 12 (maximum), but level 8 produces a significantly smaller file size.
  2. I had a similar problem when using Firefox. You might try Chrome and see if you get a different result. Typically, all you have to do is add two image blocks to a page. Then drag one block to the edge of the first, a blue line will appear with the text Column. Release the image. Squarespace does the rest.
