    Hello Squarespace Community!

Over the last several years, our community has turned the Squarespace Forum into a welcoming resource for website owners to receive support and constructive feedback from their peers.
We’re excited to celebrate your contributions to the Squarespace Forum by releasing our new Forum Achievements program. Over the next few days, you’ll start to see badges appear for your forum activity. Qualifications for each badge will be calculated retroactively, meaning that you’ll be credited for your forum contributions throughout your entire Squarespace journey.
A variety of actions—posts, comments, feedback, reactions, and more— will be represented across different badges to reward all forms of forum participation. You’ll also receive a rank designation based on your forum contributions. Both your badges and rank designation will be visible in your forum profile.
We look forward to the evolution of this program through your feedback and participation. Comment below to let us know if you have any questions about Forum Achievements!

    Cheers,
    The Squarespace Community team

Chris_SQSP reacted to Tiny_Coast in When should you use paid social?
The best thing you can do before you start with paid social is to get clear with what you are trying to accomplish. For example, is this a branding exercise? Are you looking for email signups or engagement with a free trial? Or are you looking for someone to make a purchase?
From there, you can make sure you have the necessary tracking in place to measure what you are trying to achieve. You can also place a dollar amount on different metrics.
If you are using paid social to drive conversions, but the acquisition cost is more than your product (and margins), paid social may not be worth it.
A better route may be using google search ads because people have more search intent and are more likely to convert. However, it is always essential to think about your corresponding landing page experience to understand where the disconnect arises if you have a great click-through rate on your ads but aren't seeing the results you'd like.
If, however, paid social is excellent for bringing in people who are eager to do a free trial, and each new client is worth more than the cost of acquisition, social may be a great channel for you.
In my experience, start with a small budget, and test a few different types of messaging, and creative and see if people are engaging with your creative. Try a few different formats, and landing pages, and once you start to get some traction, you can increase your ad spend. In time, hopefully, you'll have a rough idea how much an email sign up, or download, or purchase usually costs via different ad channels.
Different types of ads are better suited to branding vs people actively searching out a solution. Before you start with paid social you want to consider:
    1. goals of your paid social efforts
    2. your audience (personas?)
    3.  messaging - what kind of messaging resonates?
    4. creative - what kind of ad formats resonate?
    5. social channel - what channel is best suited to your audience (LinkedIn, instagram etc)
    6. call to action  - what do you want people to do
    7. landing page experience  and URL (where are you sending people, and does your ad messaging mirror your landing page?)
    8. Cost (is this channel helping your business financially)

Chris_SQSP reacted to Tiny_Coast in How to engage your audience
It is a lot of effort, but I do think one of the best things you can do is offer something of value. That may come in the form of tutorials, discounts, free trials, information, engaging content, etc).
It is important to establish what your audience finds valuable, and when (do they need a free trial to consider purchasing your product, or a discount to encourage them to buy from you again.
Different people are likely at different stages of the buyers journey and have different interests - so digging into web analytics, social comments, sending out surveys, or doing some of your own experimentation can help you determine what kinds of offers / content to offer your audience at different stages of the buyers journey.

Chris_SQSP reacted to Tiny_Coast in Expanding into new marketing channels in 2022
When it comes to expanding into new channels, I think it can be very helpful to evaluate your short and long term website / digital marketing goals.
SEO and content strategy can be a long game, so if you are looking for leads or sales in the more immediate future, you may wan to invest your time and resources into paid ads, while you simultaneously work on growing your discoverability in search engines.
Once you define your short and long term goals, it can help to do a digital marketing SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats) to prioritize your marketing efforts.
    Examples:
How well do you rank in search engines?
How expensive are paid ads in your industry? (can you acquire customers at a reasonable cost of conversion?)
Do you have a good social following on all / some channels? (Can you engage these channels. Does a certain type of content perform well? Would it be valuable to expand this type of content to different channels (ie tik tok)
Is your conversion rate high? (if you increase your traffic, and maintain your conversion rate, could this be very profitable for you?)
Is your traffic great but conversion rate low? (could you improve your UX / messaging and increase your conversion rate)
Once you determine opportunities you'll be able to think about your audience and the kind of content that resonates with them and get more tactical with campaign planning. For example, deciding on messaging, CTAs, destination URLs and so on.

When it comes to putting your brand in front of your audience, it’s easy to rely on the tried and true methods for marketing –a website, an ad campaign, maybe an email campaign and some social media posts. However, these methods are not enough in 2022, as most consumers have adopted new communication and social media channels, such as TikTok, affiliate marketing, influencers, and paid social media, among others.
Here’s where multi-channel marketing comes in. Reaching your customers in the different channels they tend to gravitate towards helps you build a cohesive brand experience, interact with your customers, and find new leads. According to Business2Community, matching your customer’s journey and across multiple channels will go a long way towards realizing your sales goals. Some strategies you can try are:
Combining email campaigns with social media efforts Content marketing Partnership marketing (influencers or other brands) Social media activations

It looks like your trial has been reinstated since this posting, which is great to see.

Chris_SQSP reacted to Jo_SQSP in Calls to Action- where and how?
Call to Action (or CTA) is a buzzword in the Marketing and Web Content fields these days. But, what actually is a CTA? Simply put, you’re inviting your visitors to take a desired action. It can range from two words (“Buy Now”) to two sentences, and its end goal could be anything - getting email subscribers, trial sign-ups, conversions, etc.
A well crafted CTA can determine not only whether people take the desired action, but also how many. For an effective CTA, you need to consider both the design and the placement. For the design you can consider questions like how long should it be? How do I want to format it so it pops? When it comes to placement options, you can choose to put it at the top of your website for maximum visibility. Or you might find that placing it after some contextual info makes it that much more impactful.
Do these decisions sound familiar to you? Tell us all about your learnings, tips and best practices on how to design powerful CTAs for a website and where to place them in the comments below!

Custom Domains have a registration fee, that renews every year on date of purchase. After an inital two week trial, the website has its own fee as well. Squarespace has different billing plans, monthly and annually, and all are based on what you want the site to do, for personal things like a blog or for business, selling products and needing specialized coding capabilities. I suggest if you have more questions, post them here in the Getting Started with Squarespace section of this forum on its own thread.  We will be glad to provide you with help.

Wish I had known more about summary blocks and the fact you can make a "list" of blog posts a whole lot more exciting looking with some design tweaks.
    https://myrandomviews.com/storysummary
    Update:
Another thing I wish I knew is that you can isolate and group  blog posts using a category filtered by a hyper-link.  They will show up in list layout or as featured posts, depending on how your blog is styled, and  your template setting, but these posts look like they have their own 'page" without actually having to use one. So I mix things up on my site, some posts in a summary block on their own pages, and some grouped using hyperlinks. Those links can go anywhere, on the nav bar, in a folder on a button. And those links can be used outside the site, in emails, social media posts, lots of things. The url slug will take you to the first item in the folder.

There are a variety of details to consider when setting up your online store, all in service of the ultimate goal: helping your customers find what they’re looking for and complete checkout smoothly.
Get a head start by brainstorming tags, categories, and subcategories so customers can quickly find what they are looking for and browse related items. Think early on about which shipping options and potential discount codes might serve you best. These kinds of  decisions can have a direct impact on performance.

A product is never just a product, right? Choosing certain products or services is often done with the general experience we think they will provide in mind. The goal of branding overall is to stand out from the crowd, to have a name that will be remembered, preferred, and even admired.

    The deceptively simple answers are
    1. Compelling imagery
    2. Stylish copy
    3. Perfect functionality
Great design articulates ideas with zero clutter. The mistake most people make (even seasoned designers!) is not editing enough. Once you achieve elegance in form and function, your content can shine!
