nathan reacted to ALIBOMBO in Different images for each language using weglot
Hi There! Have you ever tried to use different images for each language on a website? I´m using Weglot, but I have some custom artwork that I need to show on each version of the web!
Thanks!

nathan got a reaction from notthatnathan in Support for footnotes in Markdown blocks
Site URL: https://www.nathancashion.com/bigfoot
I'm using Bigfoot.js to create inline footnotes that pop-up instead of link to the bottom of the page.
It's working great, the only problem is that the version of Markdown on Squarespace doesn't support the syntax for footnotes. The syntax is relatively simple and similar to links:
To create a footnote reference, add a caret and an identifier inside brackets ([^1]). My current workflow is to write the post in Markdown using iA Writer. I then copy the document (or, at least, the section of the document with the footnote) as HTML and paste that into a code block on SquareSpace.
This obviously isn't ideal or efficient – if I want to add an image to the post on Squarespace, for instance, I have to separate the code blocks since image blocks cannot be inserted inside a code block and the code block will not simply split at a line break like a text or Markdown block will.
Is there any solution to enabling the footnote syntax within SquareSpace?

nathan got a reaction from tuanphan in Can't change product description color
Thanks @tuanphan, but the description text in product editor does not have a color option.
And the site styles for this page is set to white. In fact, changing the color of product detail on the site style has no effect.
I had tried changing .pdp-details-excerpt and it didn't work, but adding the !important with the asterisk did work!
Thank you.

When you edit text block, it has an option to change text color. I guess you used that option. Try checking again
Or add this to Design > Custom CSS to override it
/* product description color */ .pdp-details-excerpt * { color: white !important; }

nathan reacted to creedon in Is there a simple way to create repeating "features" without having to manually add and fight each block individually to try and recreate the presets?
Although SS doesn't have a built-in way to do this there is a third-party tool called SquarespaceWebsites Tools Extension PRO that may be of interest. Not sure it is exactly what you need but it doesn't hurt to check it out.

Answering myself…
Turns out I was using keys for reCAPTCHA v3, which are not supported by Squarespace. (Explained in Troubleshooting section here: https://support.squarespace.com/hc/en-us/articles/115013193528#toc-troubleshooting).
Created v2 keys in my reCAPTCHA console and it is working now.

Hi @paul2009 I just received this response from Squarespace:
After looking into this for you, I can confirm this is related to an issue with reCAPTCHA on our end. I've reported your case to our Engineering team, and they’re currently prioritizing the issue.
For the time being, you may want to consider this workaround:
After the customer making changes in the Newsletter Block, click out of the block menu before saving the page.
I want to set the expectation that this is an alternative solution you can use temporarily, rather than a permanent fix for the exact issue.
Please keep in mind that there are many moving parts we need to address before we roll out a solution. We thoroughly test all fixes before they’re released.
As a result, we can’t guarantee how long it will take to fix issues like the one affecting your site. Also, because of the volume of reports we receive, we can’t always follow up personally when the issue is resolved.
That being said, customer bug reports are an important part of how we continue to improve our platform.
Please do let me know if there's any other way we can help you or if you have further questions, we're always here to help.
I tried doing the workaround but it didn't work, so it seems we'll just have to wait until the issue is resolved.

I'm having some issues setting up the recaptcha in the newsletter block. I've followed the step by step instructions for set up and have pasted in the External API keys. The recaptcha box shows in editing mode but on the live website it isn't there and the submit button doesn't work when an email is entered. If I disable the recaptcha then the sign up works fine. Any ideas why?

nathan reacted to FluffyPaper in Using anchor links: why and how?
Hi, Victoria:
A good rule of thumb is: if the link is to an internal page (so a page on your own website), then it should open in the same tab but if it links to an external page (another website), then it should open in a separate tab. Of course there can be exceptions and it’s ultimately up to you.
The reasoning is that if you don’t open another tab when linking to an outside source, you’ll inadvertently be leading people away from your own site which affects your traffic, bounce rate, and potentially your search ranking.
I hope this helps and please let me know if you have any other questions ♥️

nathan reacted to Tiny_Coast in Using anchor links: why and how?
I find anchor links most useful for long-form blog content. I recently wrote this article https://tinycoastdigital.com/insights/2022-web-design-trends and went back and added anchor links when I realized it was a lot to scroll through if someone was only interested in exploring a few of the topics.
I also use anchor links in a few places on my website to take people straight to a services section and provide a more efficient experience.

nathan reacted to Sitefolk in Using anchor links: why and how?
Anchor links are very useful, so much so we suggest that an anchor block should be added to make it that little bit easier for the user to add an anchor into a particular section of the site.
Adding code block anchors are easy enough but by having an anchor block it would make it easier for the developer to see the anchor in the edit mode of the website.

nathan got a reaction from jengalvin in Impact of replacing the audio file on a podcast episode?
Hi Impega,
I do this all the time.
Yes, the audio file will be replaced in the RSS feed and shouldn't cause any problems. The order of the episodes is based on publication date of the blog post and the podcasting metadata that you add to the audio block.
It may take some time for the new audio file to propagate to all endpoints (e.g. Apple Podcasts, vs. Spotify vs. Stitcher, etc.), and if a listener has already downloaded the old file, it will not replace that unless they opt to download again (but there is no notification on the user's end that the audio file has changed).
Hope that helps!

Site URL: https://floridaadoptionattorney.com/blog
Hi there,
Relatively new to my law firm and squarespace. Any guidance for how I can place pre-existing blogs to auto populate on the Author's Bio via a tab or carousel? I'd like for the Attorney's Bios to have a blog feature so that clients can easily click through to their News/blogs. Any help is much appreciated!

nathan reacted to Beyondspace in Sort Summary Block by Blog Post Date Oldest to Newest
You can use Squarewebsites pro extension to sort the blog order
In case you can handle javascript yourself, this trick will help to gather all the blog posts and you can proceed them manually (note that data return pagination in case there are more than 30 posts in a page) View JSON Data — Squarespace Developers
