I am having the same problem because I wanted to test some features so I upgraded to commerce advance and changed payment frequency to monthly and they want me to wait 5 months until current plan expires to make the upgrade. I am currently looking into Shopify as Squaresace has proven to be a really poor platform for many reasons.
