Domain can't be added because already in use on another site

I have my domain pointed at squarespace but when I try to connect my domain squarespace has a message that says "This domain is already connected to another Squarespace website." Which it most certainly does not.
How do I figure out where/why its saying this and how to resolve it to finally connect my domain.
For reference:
-current squarespace url: mwinterdesign.squarespace.com
-domain i own and want to connect: mwinterdesign.com
