  1. Spent the weekend making and comparing three 7.0 sites to three 7.1. The built-in search was very detailed/useful in 7.0 test. Regular pages in 7.1 returned IFF the query was in the page's title. Squarespace's email support was kind/patient, but ultimately couldn't do anything and said issues were only affecting *some* sites. I'm suspicious, though - does anyone have a 7.1 site with really good built-in search functionality right now? As good as old 7.0 sites? My upgraded 7.0-to-7.1 sites have great results for pages I haven't changed since the upgrade, but won't show any of the new information/pages that have been added post-upgrade. My verdict - 7.1 built-in search is still generally knee-capped. Really wish the guide for the 7.0-to-7.1 upgrade had mentioned this, and rough that it's nearly impossible to detect until you've already upgraded...
  2. Came here today with this exact problem and hopes. Upgraded a site from 7.0 to the 7.1 version. Now, a month in, realizing that pages we've since edited have really poor results from the built-in search block. Not sure if it's a current issue, or still the same old one from a year ago...
  3. I upgraded a site to 7.1 1.5 months ago. We just realized that built-in search results are flaky at best. I thought it had been fixed, seeing as the forums had no recent posts about it at the time of upgrading, and the 7.0-to-7.1 guide doesn't mention search functionality being seriously compromised - oof! I can search a word, like "alarm" - the results from unedited, pre-upgrade pages are still okay. But if I make a new, identically formatted page, I get nothing unless I put the word "alarm" in the name/title of the new page. There's no reasonable way to know this will be an issue until you make the upgrade and make few edits! Is there a good third-party plugin or alternative option? I don't sell products or make blog pages. I just need people to be able to directly find news/info on regular old pages, without having to make a gazillion dedicated pages... the old search functionality was so precise/good!
  4. Yes! I thought the previous link editor was stepping us in that direction, was surprised when it went away. Awh well - thank you for making me feel less alone!
  5. A few months ago, Squarespace went back to the more integrated UI for uploading/searching your uploading files (pdfs, docs, etc) and linking them on a page. The previous, more-independent window of uploaded files, was replaced with a small, more-integrated list (isn't this what it was like in 2019 ish, too? anyway...). This update/reversion has made it really hard to manage clients' libraries of PDFs, especially as long-loading times + unresponsive UI in the editor now accompany bloated libraries as of this update. Which, in turn, makes it difficult to clean/alleviate the problem, especially in this smaller, more cramped UI. I filed a ticket, but was hoping someone may have a solution after having a similar experience - this update is kicking my butt.
  6. I have a moderately-large site with a substantial number of linked PDFs via the link editor as well as a reasonable number of photos in galleries. Maybe 300 pdfs scattered across 30 pages. If I update to 7.1 via the the automated tool, do I need to worry about doing an extensive backup of these files, plus record/document where they're linked, etc, first? I suppose I'm a little trepidatious, since just making a duplicate of the site won't backup files from the link editor, but, manually backing up on that scale will take a fair few hours?
