problems viewing large images of artwork

Hello! not one the templates on squarespace seem ideal for a visual artist's website. When viewers look at my paintings, they scroll through several images as they scroll down. It is difficult to see a large image of the painting this way. I would prefer to have each image of open up like a page or a normal presentation like on most gallery websites. Any ideas how to fix this?
