Asset Library displays no files - all disappeared (updated)

Case # is 8436909 - apparently a known issue being worked on. -
Asset Library is not displaying any files, only folders which also appear empty. I assume the files still exist as website is still showing all expected images. Leaving the Asset Library in the browser, the list of files sometimes appear and just as you get ready to continue building the site they disappear again!!! Right now, site building is impossible with adding images.
