Like with everything, it depends. There are times when you do, times when you don't. Some don't know they do need it -- and likewise some don't know they don't need it. I wanted to run through a few scenarios for both. When You Do Limited Time: Balancing a business and mastering SEO is tough. If time is scarce, hiring an SEO consultant can be a game-changer. They handle the intricacies, freeing you to focus on what you do best. Expertise Matters: SEO goes beyond keywords. It involves strategy, analytics, and staying current with algorithm changes. An SEO consultant brings this expertise, ensuring your site is optimized effectively. Quick Results: Experience means efficiency. Consultants know what works and can implement strategies quickly, delivering faster results than a DIY approach. Quick in the sense of starting the strategy out on the right foot. Competitive Edge: In a competitive market and business is on the line, staying ahead is crucial. An SEO consultant helps your site stand out, ensuring you don’t fall behind competitors who are optimising their sites. When You Don’t DIY Enthusiast: If you enjoy learning and have the time, DIY SEO can be rewarding. There are plenty of resources to guide you. However, be prepared for a significant investment of time and effort. Small, Static Sites: For small, non-commercial sites, basic SEO might be sufficient. If your site doesn’t rely on high traffic for success, you might manage with simple SEO practices. Plenty of great resources out there to follow the guidelines. Budget Constraints: SEO consultancy is an investment. If your budget is tight, it might be wise to focus on essential business needs first. You can still implement basic SEO techniques without a consultant.: Squarespace makes website management super easy, but SEO still remains pretty complex. While hiring a Squarespace SEO consultant brings expertise and efficiency, it’s not always necessary. Consider your time, expertise, site needs, and budget. Think about your goals and resources. If you need fast, professional results and have the budget, an SEO consultant is beneficial. If you're more hands-on and budget-conscious, DIY is probably the way to go.

@orourkedevon Yes, you can visit: https://www.glassninjas.com/home -- although Squarespace add a canonical tag -- you can find it by viewing source -- then you will see: <link rel="canonical" href="https://www.glassninjas.com"/> This bit of code (known as a Canonical Tag) literally tells Google this is the master page. -

Personally, I wouldn't worry about it at all. <link rel="canonical" href="https://www.travelsandtreasures.com"/> You can see on that page it has the canonical tag which is informing search engines it is part of the homepage.

I actually really liked the webinar. However just wanted to add. A solid Squarespace SEO campaign boils down to the following three aspects: On page, Off page and Technical SEO. Let's break these down in real simple terms. i) On Page SEO Make sure your pages are written in a way that target the right keyword and have plenty of content to support it. How did I rank at the top of page 1 for "Squarespace SEO Consultant?" Check out the page here (or search for it if you like 😀) Notice 4 things: i) The keyword is in my URL handle. ii) The keyword is in my H1 tag. iii) The keyword is used throughout the content. iv) The content there is to support the main keyword. That generally sums up the main aim of On Page - I've chosen the keyword I am aiming to rank - as clients and partners can find me with that the keyword (if you want an SEO consultant who specialises in Squarespace don't hesitate to reach out). ii) Technical SEO The great thing about Squarespace, is that it actually takes care of a lot of this for you already. Sure, you need change your settings to enforce HTTPS and you need to set up Google Search Console but apart from that you're pretty much set. iii) Off Page SEO You need to get links. See here I managed to get featured in the following: - Fiverr quoted me: https://www.fiverr.com/resources/guides/programming-tech/blogging-platforms - My university featured me: https://www.york.ac.uk/enterprise-works/entrepreneurial-journeys/harry-boxhall/ ( - Contributed to a post: https://hashtagpaid.com/banknotes/the-role-of-creator-marketing-and-influencers-in-the-b2b-world All these types of links help support your website authority to allow you to rank for keywords. See my traffic growth below over the last few months after I put effort into my Squarespace site (harryboxhall.co.uk). So if you ever find yourself wondering "Is Squarespace good for SEO?". The answer is absolutely, but that doesn't mean you can't have an SEO strategy in place. Hopefully that's where I help.

As an SEO consultant who specialises in Squarespace sites. I often get asked is "Squarespace actually good for SEO"? The answer is yes, 100%. My site (harryboxhall.co.uk) literally ranks for #1 Squarespace SEO Consultant as well as other competitive terms as well. It's not Squarespace itself that is often holding sites back. It's actually just making sure you have the three main important pillars solved of any SEO campaign solved. And that's i) On Page SEO, ii) Off Page SEO and iii) Technical SEO. Squarespace actually handles most of the Technical SEO for you and provides a lot of the tools for you to do a good job. Off Page is making sure you get the right links in (PR or a SEO consultant will be able to help you there). Finally On Page SEO, everything you actually see on a site is down to you (or your SEO consultant) to make sure you rank for the keywords you actually want to rank for. So if a web client ever asks you - please don't feel like you are unsure - you can tell them yes.

Hey Team Time in Paris, Maybe I can help here a bit. One thing to note is that you are definitely getting pages indexed: https://www.google.com/search?q=site:teatimeinparis.com&client=safari&rls=en&filter=0&biw=1357&bih=1069&dpr=1 So that's a good sign, without delving into your Google Search Console it is difficult for me to give you a good answer as to the whole situation above. However, what I suspect will be the case is as the site starts to mature (it looks like you started it again recently) and you earn more links and ensure the pages have unique content (resubmiting the URL and building internal links) will start to resolve the "crawled but currently not indexed" issue.
