I had this problem too and was losing my mind over it. The way I solved it was by turning off the AdBlock extension in my browser while I'm in the editor and now it's working beautifully. I hope it will work for you also.

Hi! I was having this problem too, and seeing that there were no solutions on offer that were working, I was about to abandon the platform... But then, I turned off AdBlock, and it's been working like a DREAM!!! If you have an active ad blocker in your browser, try turning it off for the site when you are in editor. It totally worked for me, and I hope it will work for other people too. Good luck! -
I was having the same problem and was dismayed as I read through this thread. The fixes suggested here didn't help me either, so I started working through the tips on the help page 'Troubleshooting Browser Issues'. (My browser is Firefox) I wondered if it might help to turn off AdBlock (which I have installed) when I was in my Squarespace editor. Voila! My editor suddenly began working great, no delays. I wanted to share this here in case it might be the fix for someone else too.
