  1. HI Mary -- Thanks! That's a great suggestion and I'll keep it in mind for my next website (ha ha). Since this website is so basic I'm going to just stick to the default behaviors. The flow is working out nicely despite not following my original plan 🙂 Thanks again, Carol
  2. Hi -- I've imported 2 fonts (using Custom CSS editor and Custom files). I've specified that those fonts be used for various tags. (Sorry, my terminology may be very wrong here!) Anyway, for the most part everything is working. However: - I initially had p1 font family set to Optima Medium (which worked). When I changed the font-family to Adorn Roman, it had no effect. (Now, when I change p1 to anything else it seems to have no effect -- it's like it's "stuck" on Optima.) Note that Adorn Roman DOES work for h1, so I don't think there's anything wrong with what I imported. - I can't figure out the proper tag to change the button font (for ALL buttons on the site.) I know that it's possible to set the font for buttons in the Design tool, but the font I want to use (Optima Medium) is not an option. You'll see in the CSS that I've tried MANY things (that don't work). - I also can't get determine proper tag to change the font for the header / title in the newsletter block. Help? - Finally -- ONE TIME I found a font dialog that let me search all fonts (rather than just the families that show up by default). How can I reliably get to that dialog? I found Adorn Roman in it... don't know if it was there before I imported it or not... Optima Medium was not in the list. Not sure if I can change that. CSS is below. Probably obvious, but I'm a newbie! Thanks, Carol ****************************************************************************** @font-face { font-family: 'Optima Medium'; src: url('https://static1.squarespace.com/static/626d5167c8cf094dc068f0ef/t/6293d5c72ca98112fcce627e/1653855687900/Optima+Medium.ttf'); font-family: 'Adorn Roman'; src: url('https://static1.squarespace.com/static/626d5167c8cf094dc068f0ef/t/62bcecc887271d6b2b611b1d/1656548552608/Laura+Worthington+-+Adorn+Roman.ttf'); } h1 {font-family: 'Adorn Roman';} h2 {font-family: 'Optima Medium';} h3 {font-family: 'Optima Medium';} h4 {font-family: 'Optima Medium';} p1 {font-family: 'Adorn Roman';} p2 {font-family: 'Optima Medium';} p3 {font-family: 'Optima Medium';} .image-button.sqs-dynamic-text {font-family: 'Optima Medium';} .sqs-block-button .sqs-block-button-element--small {font-family: 'Optima Medium';} .sqs-block-button-element--large {font-family: 'Optima Medium';} .header-nav-item {font-family: 'Optima Medium';} .header-title-text {font-family: 'Optima Medium';}
  3. Hi -- My website isn't public yet or I'd have included the link 🙂 I'm building a simple ecommerce site to sell my book: homepage with book/author/illustrator info, testimonials, option to buy the book, newsletter signup. The home page is very image-heavy. internal pages for each of book/author/illustrator/testimonials, to provide further information on each internal checkout page internal contact page I want users to be able to A) scroll down the page to see the basics (which they'll be able to do), but B) I also want the top (eg site header) links to push the user down the page, rather than immediately redirecting to an internal page. This is a common feature of many websites now, and I don't really want users to "have" to go to the internal pages unless they want more info C) I would like for the internal pages (except for the checkout page) to be accessed only via buttons in the various home page content areas (book, author, etc). Which means the page links in the site header would be disabled. A) -- done by default C) -- I know I can disable the links in the header, but if I do that the internal page is not accessible at all (ie from buttons). B) -- I know how to create links to an anchor on a page, but my understanding is that those sorts of links cannot be put in the site header. I could put them in a section somewhere else at the top, but that would just be confusing (and stupid). And then I'd be looking at replicating that on each internal page. Has anyone dealt with this sort of issue before (wanting the "main" navigation to send you down the page, not to internal pages)? Do I need to give up on this idea? Designers, under what circumstances do you like to use links to anchors? Do you think it's a big deal to immediately send users to internal pages (where they may get more info than they want) rather than sending them down the home page for minimal, high-level info? I know, technical and design issues here... hopefully not too annoying! 😖 Thanks, Carol
  4. Hi -- I'm building a website for my children's book (to be released soon). The book uses Optima (mostly Pro Roman) as its main font, with some accent fonts (eg Adorn Pro Roman) used elsewhere. I'm a bootstrapping website developer and a first time author -- I don't want to pay a yearly fee (at this point, anyway) for a web license for Optima. Can anyone recommend a font, either native to Squarespace or free for import, that has a similar look and feel? The options are overwhelming for a newbie, and I know that professional designers know their fonts inside and out. Thanks! Carol
  5. Hi -- I'm just getting started with SquareSpace (really, I haven't started yet...) BUT, I'll be setting up a very small e-commerce site. I'll be selling only 2 physical products (hard and soft cover book) and I'm going to use a local business to do the distribution (lower cost, like keeping it small-town). All they need from me, for each order, is a csv file, with a few pieces of information, attached to an email. Has anyone done something like this? I know there are numerous SquareSpace integrations with various distribution services, but I don't think those will do me any good. Not sure what the best approach will be. Custom code? Squarespace API? (perhaps those are synonymous -- I've not checked out the API yet...) Any input welcome! Thanks, Carol
