  1. Hi, I received a response from Weglot support saying that the errors appear to be nothing to do with weglot and asking for us to deactivate the software and see if the errors are removed. We have done so and the errors are gone. We have taken the decision to remove Weglot from our site.
  2. Thanks I have contacted your support and will refer back here with the results.
  3. Hi, I contacted Squarespace support, not Weglot, I will ask the client for the email he signed up with. Shall I DM you this? You are the only person I have had contact with from Weglot. Thanks 🙂
  4. Hi Eugene and thanks for the prompt response. Do you have an idea of when your engineers may be able to look at this please?
  5. I will do that, thanks for the suggestion. I will respond back here with their feedback.
  6. Hi, Ever since starting to use the Weglot language switcher we are seeing broken code errors on our site: https://validator.w3.org/nu/?doc=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.defenda.eu%2F If you see there are unclosed divs and spans. I have contacted support but they say they won't even look at it because weglot are a 3rd party company. Seems odd as weglot are built into the system and interact with Squarespace. I would imagine other sites are exhibiting these issues. Very poor in my opinion to expect the community to fix their issues but that is the nature of the beast I guess. Feeling very let down at the moment. Would anyone be able to suggest a fix please? We wish to use the switcher but don't want broken spans and divs on our site. Thanks, Matt
  7. Thanks for responding 🙂 We only have one tax rate set which is for UK VAT at 20%. The shop assumes everyone is from UK until they input their address. We don't charge tax for other locations. Is there a way to not show tax until they input their address please? Maybe add more tax rates?
  8. Site URL: https://www.defenda.eu/ Hi, When clicking purchase on our site, the user is taken to the checkout. Once there there are no continue shopping buttons or ways to get back to the shop itself. We believe this may be causing people to not purchase. This is due to the fact people usually purchase multiple products at one time from us. Is there a way for the user to just 'add to cart' or to add 'continue shopping' buttons to the checkout please? Thanks 🙂
  9. Site URL: https://www.defenda.eu/ Hi, We sell internationally. There is a hesitancy to deal with UK companies who export from the UK currently due to Brexit and potential additional taxes. When someone visits the checkout on our site the first thing they see is 20% VAT added to the price no matter where they come from. We would like for no tax to be shown at checkout until the user inputs their location. How should we achieve this please? Thanks 🙂
  10. I've just sent a mail to customer care with the above details, will respond back here with the response. Also found this: https://support.squarespace.com/hc/en-us/articles/206545657?input_string=slow+loading+site%2C+70%+smaller+size+than+the+competition+but+also+50%+slower. On first inspection this will not help either.
  11. Thanks CulturalistPress. As an SEO I do use these tools but this is more to do with Squarespace itself rather than how the site is built. I work on a few of these types of sites, webflow, wix etc. It would be nice to have an official standpoint on this issue. I mean the site is simply not performing as one would wish. I am assuming this is bloat due to the complexity of the Squarespace solution. The official documentation https://support.squarespace.com/hc/en-us/articles/360002090267-SEO-checklist does not even mention site speed which is a fundamental part of SEO. Here also https://www.squarespace.com/marketing/seo no mention. It states Squarespace will 'help maximize prominence among search results', while this is true in some respects, considering the search listings are based on mobile experience and how important speed is, this potential 'maximisation' is simply not enough. Do better Squarespace.
  12. I have noticed there is no support for things of this nature and so was hoping someone could help here. If not, does anyone know a better place to ask please?
  13. Site URL: https://www.defenda.eu/accessories/p/fender-hooks Hi, I have been running competition analysis on this site: https://www.defenda.eu/accessories/p/fender-hooks against other competition. Let's focus on this site: https://www.superyachtmarinestore.com/fender-hooks/ This site is 5.62mb but has a DOM load of 848ms and Full load of 1.5 seconds. The defenda site is 1.74mb and has a DOM load of 1.8 seconds and full load of 3.5. So the defenda site is 30% (approx) of the size and 50% slower. Not good. Firstly, how might I speed this up please? Secondly, I noticed https://clanker-events.squarespace.com/api/v1/clanker/events taking 1.7 seconds to load on its own on the Defenda site. I searched but could not find what this was or others talking about it. Really hoping the community can help. Thanks, Matt
