Fix Negative Space between Text Blocks/Images/Videos & Carousels – Mobile Only! I'm experiencing an issue/bug with Fluid Engine, mobile-only where it is adding excessive padding/space after a text block. It forces any image block, video block, or carousel block to be positioned further down the viewport than desired. I have also found an issue with Acuity Scheduling blocks adding excessive padding, not all blocks but at least one per page of multiple (3x) summary blocks. I have managed to target these and set a max-height via CSS, not ideal but does the trick for now. It previews fine in the Squarespace Mobile Edit/Preview window but once published/saved live the extra padding is added (see attached screen grab examples for visual reference) I have reviewed a few similar threads on this subject on the Squarespace Forum but none seem to give me a solution or answer to fix the bug. I have tried targeting the offending blocks via block-id's but still no joy. Changing the display flex-direction pushes the problem up the viewport. It seems to be a wider problem with Fluid Engine's, responsive baseline grid/framework, I'm no expert but I cannot see why it is site-wide and affects so many page elements. Any help would be much appreciated at this stage as I have exhausted my knowledge of workarounds via Custom CSS. Many thanks, Jon

In the first image, you'll see the issue on hover. I have added a link to the text though, just as a heads-up. Also on mobile, it works fine I have disabled the text hover function as it's not supported on modern mobile web browsers. If you need any further clarity or information do let me know.- 7 replies

Help needed! I have a series of images that on hover reveal a full-width text block, it replicates the old hover-text functionality of Squarespace 7.0 – now not supported in 7.1 for accessibility/user experience reasons, I guess? I achieved this with some custom CSS, it works really well except that on hover the text block, blocks the link applied to the image, making the link redundant. Here lies the problem. Does anyone now how to apply a link to a text block ID or have a work around? I did stumble across a post that mentioned a similar issue and they used z-index as a work around. I had no joy with this though. Any help much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I managed to fix this in the end, just incase anyone else experiences a similar issue. It's a bug coming from Squarespace. I pined it down to the 'set focal point' option applied to my images. As I scrolled on mobile the focal point would flicker from central focal point to the focal point I had set for mobile. Weird! If anyone else has experience of this issue and knows a work-around or code injection that would help, I'd love to hear more. Thanks! Jon

Hi Tuan, thanks for getting back to me on this subject. It looks fine on desktop and within the mobile view in Squarespace but when I view it on an actual mobile device (iPhone) the glitch appears on scroll (only on the homepage and to the first two images). I've attached a quick video showing the issue. I hope it helps? Thanks! Jon OT-Mobile-Glitch-480.mov

Hi @tuanphan I'm not sure if you can help me out again? On mobile I'm having a strange glitch effect on-scroll? It's happening to the two full-screen images that you gave me the fix for. The images sort of stretch then reduce to 100% as you scroll, really weird? Would be great to get your eyes over it and see what the bug is. Many thanks in advance! Jon

Site URL: https://optimum-time-dev-site.squarespace.com Hi! I am having a slight issue/bug appear on mobile and desktop after adding some custom-css to make an image block have two images side-by-side and full screen/viewport. Please see attached mobile screen view: Basically the first image is greyed-out in the CMS View and when viewing the website on desktop and mobile. It just fails to appear on page load, then appears finally on page scroll. The 'slide-in' animation I have set globally also fails to transition, I'm guessing this is purely down to the image not appearing? I've tried a few things in the custom css to target the image block independently but no joy. Any help or pointers would be much appreciated! And thanks to everyone who helped me get this far by adding custom css fixes to the forum, they have been so helpful in customising the out-of-the-box Squarespace templates. Oh, password is: OptimumTime Thanks in advance!
