Thanks @paul2009 that was the easiest fix ever. Much appreciated. I'm not sure why Squarespace said what they did. And the odd thing is that the issue didn't exist until a couple of days before I posted it on this forum, so who knows what went wrong!

Only the text shows up when you mouse over the button. (Obs on mobile this is not an option!) Squarespace has acknowledged that the styling issue is on their end but can't tell me how long it will take to fix. I desperately need to make sure my customers can purchase items from my store! I've never added custom CSS code on my own, so thank you in advance for your direct, step-by-step instructions.
