XpatAdventures got a reaction from dovetaler in Why Doesn't SS allow us delete/manage our own imported images?
Squarespace has been around for years -- how could this huge issue still exist? Never would have switched from Wordpress and spent hours working on site if I had known this. What would it take form them to actually address this? I have hundreds of photos to take out. What a huge problem that would be easy to fix. It makes me wonder if Squarespace is this unresponsive about everything...? Does anyone have any hacks, tricks, workarounds to fix this? I'd even empty out the whole site and start with install again because I'd load the site up differently.

I'm following this thread too and am surprised it hasn't been addressed yet. I haven't read through all of the posts so I may be bringing up a redundant point, but my hope is to strengthen the argument for improving the asset management on Squarespace websites.
I am a freelance designer whose entire web design service offering is based on selling Squarespace websites for their ease of updating once I hand the websites off to my clients. When I design a website, I design, upload and test many iterations of the same images / graphics, meaning there are a handful of similar looking images in the media library once I finally land on the best one.
This becomes an issue when I finally hand off the website to my client. If they ever need to make an update in the future or swap out the proper images, it makes this process more difficult for them, as they have to wade through many similar looking image files and may select the wrong file in the process.
Allowing me the option to delete these incorrect image assets and organizing the library prior to handing off the website to my client will ensure a better website design long-term. This helps make both myself and Squarespace look better by ensuring quality graphics are always being used.

Even though I loved the templates, I would have never selected Squarespace knowing that I cannot manage and delete my own photos. I would transfer my site right now, if it weren't for the 60 day lock. I'm in a art business class with almost 1000 students. I will post this fact everywhere so the other artists, creatives, designers, etc., will know.

I just subscribed to Squarespace and discovered that there is no option of deleting/managing imported images.
It is like using a program with no 'undo'. That should be the most basic feature. And I can see this feature as been asked for years now.

I recommend that each one of you submits a "feature request" email with a link to this thread.
Squarespace must address this. It's absolutely ridiculous to not be able to clearly manage/delete the photos you've uploaded.

This is astonishing and disappointing that isn't a feature already. I see it's been requested for over a year. What gives?! This is an INSANE THING to not have included. Ugh. So disappointing/annoying/frustrating. BOO!

An ongoing feature request since May 2020. Still nothing.

Another web design agency here echoing all previous comments on this thread and others. Being able to manage media is a must have feature.

Can only support this! I spent ages thinking that it was just me who couldn't find the feature. A bit shocked that it doesn't exist, actually

I couldn't agree with this more. Extremely frustrating.
I did find this support info which may help (though it's definitely not substitute for having user ability to manage by any means), but hope it helps! According to this support info, images DO finally get deleted in time (between 8-38 days) apparently, but in an urgent situation you an send an email for SS for assistance in getting them deleted sooner: https://support.squarespace.com/hc/en-us/articles/205812748-Image-and-file-URLs-in-Squarespace
However, Squarespace, PLEASE give the ability to manage this on the user end.

Add an option to delete uploaded assets!
I want full control over whatever images I want or not uploaded on my website.
I'm starting to consider asking for a refund, this is borderline illegal besides being counter productive.

Adding my request to delete/manage images to the crowd of Squarespace designers needing this feature. Would love a response on timing for this feature please!

I also need the ability to delete images.
I initially uploaded all my portfolio photos as high resolution images - but the large files make the website too slow. I need to replace all images with lower res ones for faster page display. But I cant delete the first set of images. I'm going to have to sort through TWO of every image each time I want to select an image.

14 months in, still waiting for a response ...
SquareSpace, we'd like to remove some images please. It clutters up the place and makes life hard for developing.
Is this not important for you? 🤷♂️
