I am going to echo a few of you who have expressed frustration that Squarespace themselves do not find the standard mobile menu appealing, and instead use the dropdown style. Yet, they do not give the users an option to do so without buying a plugin. Thanks for becoming Wordpress, Squarespace. -

Thank you @paul2009, this is great! Is there a way to have the image clickable/tappable to link, but remove the buttons so that it is just the pictures and their respective titles showing?
