    @CocoaCollective

    I've achieved this on a client's site by using the below:

    // Product 1 Background Color

    div#yui_123456789 {
    background-color: #123456 !important;
    }

    // Product 2 Header Background Color

    #item-123456789 .header{
      background-color: #123456 !important}

    If you share your website link, I can give you the exact code per product or you can inspect the page and find the right values.

    Thanks @WCS,

    So where would I be putting this code?

    The website url is cocoacollective.co.uk

    Let's keep bombarding them with emails about this- it's a big error for Squarespace not to allow users to set VAT rates per product, and I really don't see why it should be particularly difficult.

    Just seen the Squarespace's announcement about new commerce packages, tools and feature and was hopeful that this would be fixed...

    I'm not holding my breath.  Spoke to someone from their customer care team and they didn't even know that they'd made an announcement.  I had to send them the link!

    Squarespace have already publicly stated that they plan to support product categories that have special tax rates "in the near future".

    Hi @paul2009,

    Just wondering where you heard/read this as I've just been in touch with Squarespace's customer service to ask if they had an update and they said they had no knowledge of any impending changes to the Tax/VAT settings.

    I'm hoping that the customer service rep just had the wrong info....

  4. I'm sick of the backend limitations with Squarespace's eCommerce settings.  It's bad enough I have to manually work out the sales tax on each order for my accounts as some of my products are 0% rated and others 20% which makes my VAT returns a nightmare.   Now I'm stuck on shipping rates being the same for every order.  I've just built a passworded wholesale shop page and need the shipping to be different because of the amounts ordered are far larger than a regular retail customer has.  I'm seriously thinking of swapping out to a shopify commerce plan when my plan is up for renewal!

    Hello, after talking to customer support they directed me to here.

    Our business sells two kinds of product one that is a no tax item (food) and others that are taxes (liquor). There is no way in their system to make this happen. They suggested maybe seeing if someone has a way to customize it so that it does? Anyone can help out?

    Thanks

    I've got the same issue with my site/store.  I've contacted Squarespace on a chat and they've raised a feature request with their product and development teams.  But the more people that ask for it the more likely it'll end up happening so it might be worth raising one as well.

    Ive just found it paul - awesome youre a star. I so wish SS would get there act together in this dept. Its like no one realises the things that could be so much better and make it an awesome platform rather than a good one!!

  7. This would be a massive help to me too.  Most of our products are confectionary and have 20% VAT on them.  However we also sell hot chocolate which counts as a beverage ingredient like tea and coffee which are all 0% rated for VAT.  I'd just spent the about half an hour trying to find out how to change the VAT on items before I used google and found this post.

    At the moment we only have the hot chocolate on the website but I'm currently building the products and pages for chocolates to go on and could do with getting this sorted sooner rather than later really.

    @paul2009's workaround is ok but not sure how it'd work if someone just ordered 0% items if it won't trigger shipping.  Ideally Squarespace need to add a VAT button/toggle within the "Edit Physical Product" page on the "Pricing & Variants" tab.

    Squarespace is great I love it over Wix as it's generally easier to use for someone that's not a professional web designer or coder, but this is a fairly basic thing to get wrong on the e-commerce side as a lot businesses will sell things that are on different levels of VAT or Sales Tax etc.
