@paul2009 oooh! Last time I checked your plugin (admittedly a ways back when trying to solve this problem) it was 7.0 only... didn't realise there was a 7.1 version now... however, in case you are not aware I just looked at the example sites you have there and when I select a different currency (GBP) some are displaying "GBPNaN" (e.g. little building company and  lage). I'm using Chrome on Mac if that is relevant.

I don't know of any way of doing this without a plug-in. The one I use is shinypass (https://shinypass.com/), which allows you to do a *rough* approximation of pricing in different currencies via a drop-down menu. It's works pretty well and it's better than nothing, but it is just a rough currency conversion. It also requires a monthly subscription.
However, this is just a simple FYI for customers, when it comes to check-out they will still need to check out in whatever currency your store is set to. For example, I have a UK based store so it's set to GPB. Customers can select different currency conversions via the shinypass drop-down, but when they reach check-out they still see all prices in GBP and need to check out in GBP. This almost certainly leads to abandoned carts.
I'm not aware of any way of getting around this issue. We also have an Etsy store, which allows customers to view and check-out in their local currency. I understand this is also possible on Shopify sites, but I don't have one so can't confirm that.
Just another limitation of Squarespace as far as I can tell.

I've just seen the new feature that allows you to upsell "add-on" products on product pages. This is a nice feature, but in trying to use it I've found some quirks. So if you're going to try this out, here's a few things I've noticed:
When you add an add-on product, it will only display a thumbnail if you have explicitly set a thumbnail in the product you wish to add-on. Generally I don't bother setting thumbnails explicitly as they are not really used within any feature I personally have on my store. However, for add-on products you'll only get a thumbnail displayed if you have explicitly set one (it won't just use the first image for example)
When adding an add-on product in the editor, for some reason, it's only showing a small selection of the products in my store as options. This isn't because of restrictions (which I'll come on to), it just doesn't seem to show all the valid products. If you have the same issue, I've found that opening the product you want to add-on in the editor and then saving it again makes it magically appear as an option when you try again. So some kind of glitch there at the moment.
You can't add-on any products that have variants, and you can't set a quantity of products for each add-on. This is the main thing that makes this a much less useful feature for my particular store, but I appreciate it may be less of an issue for other people. It would have been nice to have been able to set a default quantity for example. In my store's case we sell sewing patterns. We also have products that you'll need for a given project, so for example the pattern might require X metres of product Y, or perhaps it needs 3 buttons, and so on. So without being able to set default quantities (add 3 buttons), it's not that useful to us, which is a shame, as it would be great to allow customers to add all the products they need for the project via these simple add-on buttons. I could create a separate product that's (for example) a pack of 3 buttons, but (a) this makes stock management a pain and (b) I'd need to create lots of separate products for N meters of each type of fabric, interfacing, elastic, and so, which isn't really practical and would bloat the store page unnecessarily. It's also just a fix for the quantity issue, the variants have a similar problem, it would be great for customers to be able to select the colour they want for an add-on item, for example.
So, a couple of glitchy things and some limitations. Overall I'm glad to see Squarespace adding features like this, as upsell in particular hasn't been very strong to date (I'm not sure these add-ons appear on the cart page either). I don't want this post to come across as moaning, as I'm sure this feature is going to be great for lots of people, it's just not a great fit for my particular store. I'm going to be primarily sticking with my current solution which is to have a summary block in the additional info section that lists related products with a quick view option. This provides a more suitable solution for my needs as the customer can select quantity and colour variants. I do love the impulse nature of the add-on buttons though, so I'll be using them in the few places where it makes sense.
Would be interesting to hear other people's experiences and if they've got any nice work arounds for the current limitations.

I'm not holding my breath! FYI in case you didn't know - when YT recently lowered the criteria of joining the partner program we qualified for the basic tier (no ad revenue, but can do a few other things) - this now allows us to add a web link on video end screens. It's not as good as proper shopping integration, but you can at least link to a featured product on your website via an end card. It's better than nothing.

Just on the off chance that anyone here has heard anything - has squarespace given any indication that they plan to integrate with YouTube Shopping? Currently the main option is Shopify (isn't it always?), but we use YouTube a lot for our business and being able to show store items directly on YouTube would be really helpful.

I’m not 100% sure on the “successful” part of this method, but we worked shipping into the product price and then didn’t add dimensions/weight for Printful items. If we get an order for only Printful items, it does sometimes charge shipping. We just add a note that sometimes the app charges shipping and we’ll refund immediately. The integration’s missing so many important features. Local pickup orders + whole new headache:)

I appreciate how frustrating this has been for everyone concerned but this issue should now be resolved for all Squarespace Download Products.
As your email indicated, Google's technical teams applied a temporary fix for this issue earlier this week, restoring the download feature and preventing incorrect warning messages appearing. A permanent fix will be applied soon but they don't expect us (or our customers) to experience further issues. To be clear, this issue was not caused by Squarespace and was not an issue with their platform.

@WCS Thanks for the idea (it was mentioned previously in the thread). That workaround is maybe ok if you are giving out something free ("download my free guide", etc) and you are actually advertising a service, but when you are an ecommerce site and the PDF is the product you are selling, hosting it as a link to google drive isn't the most secure or professional looking way of selling products. And although it may only be a few extra clicks, those additional steps can be enough to confuse customers who are used to just downloading the PDF directly on most other sites (including Squarespace previously!) and it just works. You'd be surprised how many customers don't even realise how to download the PDF's in the simple click-the-email-link way already - we even see this on Etsy, where customers email us asking how they download the product they've just purchased. Many people are not as computer literate as you might think in the current day and age.
Finally (sorry, this isn't meant to be trashing your idea, but there's been discussion further up the thread you maybe missed), the PDF work-around is only a temporary fix anyway, as PDF's themselves are getting the same auto-block treatment as ZIP files in a forthcoming Chrome update (see thread posts above).

I've heard back from my customers who re-tried their downloads today, and they worked!   I also took MFA's advice and tried a zip download with Chrome myself, and had no issues.
Of course, I'd feel better if someone from Squarespace would confirm that they actually found/fixed something.   I'll probably leave the information about the issue in my outgoing emails to digital product customers for the time being.   But it's definitely looking good!

Having also escalated this issue, I am still awaiting a formal update from the teams at Squarespace, so I don't have anything definitive to share yet. However, I'm hopeful!
Anecdotally at least, I am now able to download the same (previously considered "dangerous") files without any difficulty from the the same CDN (https://digital-goods.sqspcdn.com). Customers have been able to use the original download link (in their email, or from the order status page) to generate a new product download link for an existing order, and download it without any warnings.

@DanielRG I have had to delay two product launches and counting so far. Hosting our proprietary files via static link is too easy for people to pirate and therefore basically a non-starter, especially considering that as you say, we're paying Squarespace to serve our digital download products securely. Hopefully this gets fixed ASAP so all digital retailers relying on Squarespace can finally resume business as usual!

I'm also getting inundated with angry customers unable to download their digital products because of this issue.   As a (hopefully temporary) work-around, I have modified the e-mail notification that gets sent out to digital download customers, explaining the issue, and how to TEMPORARILY disable the "Safe Browsing" option in Chrome's security settings to enable the Zip file to be downloaded ... and then change it back.   I include a screen-shot image of that specific page, and explain how they can navigate to that page.   I also tell them if they aren't comfortable doing it that way, and they don't have access to a different browser like Edge, Firefox, Safari, etc, to contact me and I'll send them their product using something like We Transfer.   It's not a very satisfying solution, and appears pretty "unprofessional", but it's the best I could come up with for now, and does seem to have greatly reduced the angry e-mails.   btw, I tell them the way to get to the Chrome security settings screen is to open a new tab, and type  "chrome://settings/security" in the URL bar.
The (somewhat) good news is I've had interaction with several of the "live chat" help desk folks about this over the past couple of days, and they all have said that "Squarespace engineers are looking into it", and "It is a priority issue".   Assuming we can take them at their word about that, it's a much better response than "Not our problem" which was the initial response many folks seemed to have been getting early on.

There is is no way SquareSpace can pass the buck on this, there is clearly an issue and seeing their responses of things like "it should be working" are not very reassuring that they're actually taking it seriously.
SquareSpace has clout, reach out to Chrome developers and work on a resolution. Don't put the burden on every user.

Hi there - seems like the same issue everyone is experiencing. It is not an issue with your files or how they are bundled; if you upload them elsewhere you'll see Chrome allows their download without any warnings.
While at first glance it does appear the download link is not SSL-secured (encircled "i" instead of lock icon), the Squarespace-generated download link URL does in fact begin correctly with "https://".
Nevertheless, it is 100% a Squarespace issue that these otherwise SSL-secured pop-up links are being flagged by Chrome as insecure. I believe it may have something to do with them referencing a non-local file download (starting with https://digital-goods.sqspcdn.com) despite masquerading as a local link (appearing to start with your domain name).
Other eCommerce providers such as Shopify and Gumroad are able to generate unique download links for digital products without producing any warnings; this issue is restricted to Squarespace and therefore an issue they must resolve. With their recent acquisition of Google Domains I hope they will be able to liaise with Google engineers to find a solution.

Thanks for fighting the good fight! I'm sure many of us have pretty much given up with support, they just aren't interested, which I agree makes no sense from a business pov. This is the first time I'm seriously considering switching to Shopify. I really don't want to as it's a major hassle, I prefer Squarespace's design capabilities and I'm concerned about completely screwing my SEO, but if they don't resolve this issue I don't see I have a choice if I want my business to actually remain functional. How long before "shopify vs squarespace" comparison articles start mentioning that digital product delivery is basically broken? If I ran Squarespace I'd be all over this. Baffling and short sighted.
Anyone know a tech journalist who might be interested in reporting on this issue? Press coverage seems to be the only way of getting anything done these days (see recent Etsy walk back on withholding seller funds).

I can't believe I'm coming so late to this thread as I've been stuck in the ninth ring of "support" email hell for the last two weeks, forced to repeatedly re-explain the issue while being fed the same gas-lighting nonsense that the issue is somehow our fault. It's absurd and frankly insulting that Squarespace sees fit to mess with its own customers' livelihoods in such a reckless way.

The suggestion to offer digital download products as "a single PDF" is preposterous for numerous reasons. Many digital products simply can't be collated to a text format, such as music creation tools or other similar digital products. Secondly, providing a static link opens up an unacceptable piracy vector for any proprietary digital product. Third, it assumes Chrome/Firefox will allow the PDF to be downloaded, which is inconclusive at this point. And finally, suggesting that customers who have in many cases paid specifically for Squarespace's unique customer digital product download links instead use another provider for those links (which would, again, no longer be secure) is beyond embarrassing, it's shameful.
Finally, the problem does not appear strictly in Chrome, as customers have complained about download warnings from Squarespace appearing in Firefox as well. I have captured video clearly showing the Squarespace digital download pop-up tab that appears when clicking the Download icon from the Orders page registers with Chrome as "insecure" despite being supposedly SSL-secured (and preceded correctly with https://).
This indicates an issue with Squarespace's download link generation code. I'm not certain if these are related, but sure enough, the downloads switch to being served by URLs beginning with "https://digital-goods.sqspcdn.com/content/v1/" instead of directly from our hosted domain. I wonder if this domain switch could pose some issue for certain browsers.
I have run a Google security audit on our domain and Google has confirmed it is 100% safe, and SSL is of course fully enabled. Our product files download without any warnings via Chrome when served via Dropbox or in fact any other URL - it is only when the files are served via Squarespace that any warnings appear whatsoever. Squarespace is the issue.

Not our files, not Chrome - SQUARESPACE.
We have also been forced to delay a product launch due to these inexcusable errors, costing more and more by the day. All I have seen from Squarespace in response are concerted efforts to deflect the issue and avoid any responsibility, rather than actually support their long-standing, loyal, and dedicated customers. It does not make any sense at all from a business point of view. If you have a competent engineering team, solving issues like this is precisely what they get paid for.
Having recently purchased Google Domains, I have to imagine Squarespace has open lines of communication with Google that could help get to the bottom of whatever the issue might actually be and resolve it swiftly. It needs to be made the highest engineering priority before more livelihoods are ruined and customers such as myself are forced to migrate to other platforms that can actually serve digital products as advertised.

This is simply not correct: the identical .zip files download perfectly fine via Chrome from any other URL - it's only when they are served via Squarespace that the warnings appear. Furthermore, we have customers reporting similar download warnings appearing on Firefox. This is a Squarespace issue.

Thanks for that info - I've heard similar things that some zip's/sites seem to get through the block and others don't. Squarespace are just giving the "not our problem" response, which although to some extent true, is a bit much considering they are hosting a platform that sells digital retail systems to its customers and these issues directly and negatively affect the customer facing operation of those systems.
We're very much on our own, which is a disappointing response as you'd hope that all us small businesses would greatly benefit from Squarespace having our back on this & at least engaging with Google about potential solutions.
I also have an Etsy site, and many of those products are also zipped PDF collections (since although Etsy allows multiple file uploads, it still limits them to 5 - we often need a few more as we offer the product in multiple formats, have instruction manuals, etc. but I'm sure 5 is fine for most sellers), but I've not YET had any customers encountering the same issue with that site. I posted a heads-up warning that this might start happening on the Etsy forums, but as yet no-one has reported this there, so I'm guessing that somehow Etsy doesn't seem to be being effected. (Is there some secret white-listing going on? I'd wager that digital Amazon products won't get hit like this).
Weirdly I've not been able to replicate this blocking on Squarespace myself. I ensured Chrome was updated to the latest version, on both PC and Mac, and was able to purchase a zip file from my Squarespace site with no problems. So that's a thing. It all seems very random who is affected right now.
Google have been extremely poor at communicating these changes that will have a major negative impact on digital product sellers, and it's unclear to me that they've offered any solution to the problems it causes, e.g. by recommending some alternative "safe" file type, or some way of getting files signed as safe (app-store like), or whatever.
BTW: It is actually possible to get chrome to download the file without switching off safe browsing, but as you say, they don't give the impression that this is possible or offer the option in an easily accessible way. You have to go to the downloads list, and from there there is an option to "keep dangerous file" (yeah, it's really called that). This is the instructions we have to give buyers at the moment, which sounds just great, doesn't it?
I'm having to manually send some files to customers via email, because they don't want or don't understand how to get around the blocking behaviour. They are of course receiving the exact same file via email, it just doesn't require them to skip a security warning.
Worth noting that I had one customer encounter this download blocking behaviour, and when I directed them to the instructions for Chrome, they informed me they used Firefox... so that's interesting. I know a lot of browsers are based on Chrome, but didn't expect to start seeing this behaviour spread to other browsers (if that's what's happening - I've no idea)

Thanks so much for sharing that response from Squarespace @DCDR. While I understand their suggestion of using PDF instead - that isn't an option if you need to sell multiple files (as we do). Also, it's a very temporary measure, as since the original post I've learned that the roadmap for files that Chrome will be blocking in this way in scheduled to include PDF's in the next update. Eventually it's even going to include formats like PNG! So it's just a matter of time before almost all file downloads are blocked by default, making life much more difficult for legitimate sellers of digital products.
While I understand the need for protecting users, the current messaging around this from Google is the equivalent of "don't cross the road - you might die!". Everything in life has risks, and I feel the messaging & behaviour at the moment is way too fear mongering, rather than encouraging users to make an informed choice.
Although I'm sure you'll be able to download anything you like from the Google Play Store without any warnings at all.
