I'm having this same problem. I've created categories, hit the check mark and then it disappears before I can hit "Save".

Callan reacted to derricksrandomviews in How can we create a community discussion function on a squarespace website?
You create a closed, Facebook group, embed the link in a block on your site.
Closed Facebook groups are more private than public groups, as only approved members can view the group's content. Anyone can still see the group's name, description, and member list, but to join the group, a user must be invited by a current member or approved by an administrator.
Like a connected forum group, the discussion is not on your site but tied to it and will not cost anything.

Callan reacted to julesgilleland in How can we create a community discussion function on a squarespace website?
All of these community options are so pricey! I really don't understand why the membership section doesn't have some sort of chat or at least messaging. Hasn't anyone found an affordable way to integrate engagement and discussions in their squarespace site?

Hi I actually helped a client with this! You can create a host a circle community and directly embed it onto your website. It does have a cost to it but it would be a great solution for what you're looking for. https://circle.so/

Callan got a reaction from Rustynz in 7.1 text element spacing buggy and changes between screen sizes
Hi all,
I am having a frustrating problem trying to get uniform spacing between text elements on a page in a 7.1 site. I started from a plain page, no template.
When I align headings and text on pages to suit a large iMac (27inch), it messes up the spacing in other sizes such as a 15 and 14 inch laptop/notebooks. This type of editing doesn't seem to affect the text spacing on mobile screen sizes.
I've edited the same page 10 times on different sized screens trying to get it right. As soon as it's right on the large screen, the laptop/notebook is no good and vice versa!
Please help!
See attached example of how it looks on the 27 inch screen when I get it right on the 15inch.

Callan got a reaction from WCS in Colour change code for accordion
Thank you! My CSS was a little off, I was using:
#block-yui_3_17_2_1_1709022622203_38394
.accordion-item__description {
text-color: #fffff !important;
-
Callan reacted to WCS in Colour change code for accordion
@Callan The CSS for this should be:
#block-yui_###### .accordion-item__description{
color: white !important
}
Is that what you were using previously?
Sometimes CSS doesn't display on the backend unless you save, leave the Custom CSS window, refresh, and then go back in.

Callan reacted to crabfrog in Custom members paywall page
The paywall should be the sales page. Because the way it works now, it is extremely confusing for users who have already signed up for a member area and still see the "sales" page.
It makes zero sense for those to be different pages, though it would be nice to be able to define a logged-in vs not view.
My site organization/IA is a mess with all the sales pages for each of my membership areas, I really really really need the ability to fully edit the paywall page and treat it as the sales landing/marketing landing page. This is so silly.

Callan reacted to Sahba in Monitoring progress in an online course
Hi everyone, I'm trying to figure out if it's a good idea to move my online courses from Teachable to Squarespace. The biggest deciding factor for me is to figure out if Squarespace offers a solution for monitoring student progress through courses. I need to be able to tell if a student has completed all the course contents so that they can receive a certificate acknowledging they have completed the course.
Additionally, it would be important for me to embed some basic quizzes into my courses to facilitate learning. Squarespace seems to recommend using code blocks to achieve this, but I'm not proficient in coding.
Any thoughts or ideas? 🙂🙏

Callan reacted to StoriesAroundTheSun in How to duplicate course overview page
BTW a timesaver option I'm using until they allow us to duplicate a entire course is to go into the original course and save all the sections - ie the sections on the course overview page and the sections below the video on the individual lesson pages. Then when I go to create the duplicate course, I have the current course open in another tab, and just follow the flow and add in the saved sections where needed. So much faster than recreating, plus the mobile view is already sorted! Next up I'm hoping they allow us to change the wording on the "Start Course" and "Complete & Continue" button for those of us creating courses in languages other than English 😉

Callan reacted to StiwdioLonAraf in How to duplicate course overview page
I'm probably being dense but I'm trying to add another course to my site (though none are ready to go yet) and want to use the exact layout of the first course I've been working on.
I thought I'd be able to duplicate the page as I normally would: open page setting, go to the bottom of the page, click on duplicate page - simple!
But the duplicate page choice isn't there...
Is it somewhere else that I can't find it?!
Much appreciate anyone's time to help make me think I'm not losing it.

Callan reacted to Jimmy_O in Adding members manually
Hi there,
Is Squarespace going to add a feature where we can manually add members to our paid member area. I have clients that have paid for our content before launching with Squarespace members areas. Unfortunately, I can only set them up at this stage by creating a page password, then making my members site free, getting them to sign up, then returning the members site to its normal price for new customers and removing the page password.
This is a very inefficient process.
Can we please add this simple feature where we add users as admin of the site, with their email and a temporary password they can change once set up?
Thanks

The code appears in top of site because you added it to Code Injection, you should add it to Custom CSS

Callan reacted to Meaganp in Change Email for Orders Coming In
Hey friends,
I'm trying to figure out how to change the email I receive orders to without changing my Squarespace login. I have multiple Squarespace sites, so it's important for the orders coming in to go to their associated email addresses.
Presently they're going to the email I use to log in to Squarespace. I need them to go to a different email for order fulfillment, but I can't seem to figure out how to change this. I've checked in the Commerce section, in the store...I can't find where to update this information.
Thanks in advance. 🙂

Callan reacted to brendaweicai in Layout changes based on screens size
Site URL: https://brendaweicai.com
Hello all!
I've been working on my portfolio on my 32" monitor and realized that the layout is completely different after moving the browser to my 13" laptop. The spacing is super weird, not to mention the text columns that I can't seem to make it uniform. I've tried editing from my laptop instead of the monitor but obviously then everything is weird when I move it to my monitor.
I did figure out(with the help of this forum) that it's affecting buttons when the blocks are overlapped. When I went to my individual case study(https://www.brendaweicai.com/eatunbound) to fix the overlapping blocks and resize them to fix the spacing, the text blocks are STILL adjusting themselves as I move it laptop to monitor. This is still making weird spacing.
The first pic is the after I've made sure none of the blocks are overlapping and the spacing is to my liking. The second is the EXACT same thing just on my larger monitor.
Is this just how Squarespace works on the "responsiveness" across screen sizes?
Is there a way I can adjust/fix with custom css(or anything really) so the spacing and everything else is uniform no matter the computer screen they're looking at it from?
Thanks!

Callan reacted to paul2009 in 7.1 Saved sections not loading to page
There isn't a button. To add the Saved Section to the page, simply click the thumbnail itself. Don't use the checkbox as this is used to select and delete saved sections 🙂.

Callan reacted to pentool in Overlap images and sections with 7.1
Are you sure you guys not overthinking this a little? Does it HAVE TO BE two sections? Why? You can totally fake it with a single section make it look like two. Works on mobile, too.
Description is on the page. PW: Accordion

Callan reacted to Ziggy in Identical images not all responding the same to different screen sizes
Not exactly, but if you resized the image to 32x32px (or similar) and re-uploaded the image for each instance, then made the image block larger, it would keep the size consistent.
