How can I take orders without taking payment?

Hello, I wondered if anyone has used the Shopify Buy button as a way around this? I've been doing some reading online and apparently it can be setup with a cash payment method and the button can then be added to the squarspace product pages? It seems like a crazy workaround and I haven't got my head around it properly yet, but I would be keen to know if this could be a suitable solution or not?
