    Mermaid got a reaction from WolfH in Gift Card Sales via POS Workaround?   
    Last year I built a commerce website for a client. They now want to add selling gift cards (naturally) via both their Online store + Squarespace POS in-person. Online is of course no problem. But Support tells me you can only sell Physical + Service products via POS.
    Any ideas on a workaround for selling Gift Cards via POS? Like maybe a physical product with a seller-assigned code? Or a coupon something or another? LOVE to get ideas. Cheers! 🙃

    Chiming in here as well, as the removal of the Commerce app right before the holiday season is adding a layer of stress my business does not need. I have run my business on Squarespace for five years now. During the pandemic our website became one of our lifelines. Once we were able to reopen the Commerce app became one of our most valuable tools for ensuring our customers were happy. I am so disappointed to hear that the Commerce app is going away at the end of September, especially when I see that the new Squarespace app is missing so many of the key features we rely on. These include: new order notifications, the ability to manually adjust gift card balances, and a reliable Android app. We small businesses have had to pivot so many times, especially those of us in California navigating through not only a pandemic, but wildfires. To lose a key feature that allows us to run our businesses smoothly, right before the holiday rush is crushing and extremely disappointing. Unfortunately if Squarespace can't see that the features offered by the Commerce app aren't valuable to its customers I will need to start looking for another website builder and will be encouraging my fellow small business owners to do the same.

    Over the past 18 months we have been able to save our small business by having a beautiful online store with Squarespace. We had people buy gift cards through their and we now have people order from all over the country. It's been a lifesaver - and while we use a different POS for in-store purchases with the Commerce app we have been able to quickly update any in-store purchases and get easy notifications for any purchases coming in from the website so we can pull inventory before it sells in-store. We have also been able to redeem the online gift cards through the app, which has allowed us to "use them" in-store. It's been really good.
    However, now with the Commerce app being removed, we can no longer use the online gift cards in store and we cannot get notifications to our phones and iPad when orders come in. We can only see them in email. In addition, I have an Android phone which won't even allow we to do sales with the app in-person and even though I just downloaded the new app I cannot even update inventory through it, as it crashes immediately if I try to do anything with the inventory.
    Heading into the holiday season, with COVID back on the rise, I am really concerned that taking away the Commerce app is going to negatively impact our already small business. Why is such a change being made when the new app clearly doesn't have the features that the current one has? Why are you taking away options for businesses at this time? In talking to a rep they told me I should have a computer ready in case someone wants to use an online gift card in store and they should have to put their entire order in that way instead of me being able to redeem it how I have been. How does this seem like a reasonable workaround for this - when there already was a system that worked? 
    If anyone knows someone who has figured out a workaround please let me know. We need to find a way to make this work and I'm really frustrated that Squarespace has been non-responsive.

    Yes, the visibility is set to Public on the other 7 not showing up.  On the Save button, I don't have a drop down for Save/Publish/Schedule.  I can only Save, that's it - there's no drop down option there.  
    The only thing I can think of that I did different, was that I chose Duplicate when I was adding products to save time on entering details and other information. Would that have caused this?

    @paul2009 I was able to figure it out. Removed everything except the following and the button text stayed as it should. Thanks for walking me through.

    @bedeclarke - I agree that the current system is a deal breaker for anyone who has a lot of products. I honestly feel duped when I signed up back in May (and they had a 200 product limit per shop page) because I am now discovering a TON of basic/essential e-commerce features that are missing on the supposedly premium Advanced Commerce plan Squarespace offers. Its Advanced Commerce plan is basically CRIPPLED. And honestly, I think it's just plain ridiculous to shell out $300-$800 for a Squarespace expert to code something that should already come with the Advanced Commerce plan -- whether it's a new version or not! -- and then have me take all the risk of that custom code breaking down the line when Squarespace decides to do another major upgrade.
    I would have gone with Shopify if I had enough time to evaluate and discover features, but I was coming from another e-commerce platform, AuctivaCommerce, whose owners/developers have apparently abandoned and stopped developing -- a shame because I was with them since 2014 and they had the very best features IMO (they just didn't seem interested in developing it further or continuing with it and my store has outgrown it) -- and I needed to move as soon as possible. Right now, I'm stuck with Squarespace and have managed to get my store to work how I need it to work. But it's looking that I will have to move my store to Shopify later on.

    Making this thread to bring more attention to the issue.
    There needs to be a feature to automatically sort products ( alphabetically, by price, by inventory stock, etc ) on the store page. Especially since the pandemic prevents customers from browsing inside our physical shop, we're consistently adding inventory to our website all the time. However, with well over a dozen pages with 100+ products, and without this simple and essential feature, sorting newly added products one at a time is pointlessly tedious and sinks away hours.
    SQUARESPACE advertised 10,000 products per store page, but it's misleading - even a fraction of that amount is unmanageable and unusable with no basic sorting feature.
    If there a script or reliable plugin that can solve this issue, at least?

    This is a crazy situation. Furthermore, the images that are contained with the pre-built section templates are also featured there and seemingly cannot be removed? 

    This is particularly annoying when trying to duplicate a site and see images from one site now in the library for a new one - madness.

    I ran across this SS support page when researching how to delete imported images.
    "Deleting an image you've uploaded or a Getty Image preview removes it from the Imported tab. If you’ve used the image in multiple places, it will stay in the Imported tab until you delete all copies. If you're still seeing it in the Imported tab, you may need to empty your site's trash can."
    However, I'm not finding the statement to be accurate... it appears any image I import stays in the Imported tab, even if deleted from the page, not used throughout the site, and the trash is empty. Just curious if anyone else has put it to the test?
