  1. Hey, thanks for the response! This is working quite nicely. One more thing I do want to ask, How would you increase the maximum width of the banner text so that the text goes all the way out to the edge of the screen? Right now it seems like the width of the text will not go past a certain point. Thanks.

  3. Is there a simple way to make the banner text shrink in size when the screen shrinks instead of wrapping, and dropping a line? I am using the Bedford Template.
  4. Ok. What kind of custom CSS could do this, when I increase the block via the right margin, it pushes the image away, i need to make it reach out without moving the image. How would I do that?
  5. Hey! Thanks for the reply here is the URL just scroll down near the bottom of the page.
  6. Very simple idea, and it should be easy to implement... Or so I thought, upon further investigation I cannot find anyone anywhere with this same problem. I am attaching an image of what I am trying to reproduce, anyone with a knowledge of CSS can see that it is not a normal way of styling things... Yet it is normally possible, something like this should be possible in Squarespace right? Please; even an idea could help me out. This has really got me stuck. Thanks in advance. 7. I have quite the peculiar problem... First of all I want to say that this is a very important issue for my client, If I can't find a way to do this it is not going to be good.. Its really a simple thing, but I don't know if square space will support it. They want the text of the banner of the homepage to have a special format and they want it aligned to the left. I've got that part figured out: // funky rules to make the banner text look right on the homepage #IDoftheHomepageBanner { .desc-wrapper { float: left; text-align: left; vertical-align: baseline; } .desc-wrapper p:nth-of-type(1) { font-size: 48px; text-transform: none; font-weight: bold; } .desc-wrapper p > strong { color: #004a88; font-size: 48px; font-weight: bold; letter-spacing: normal; } .desc-wrapper p:nth-of-type(4), .desc-wrapper p:nth-of-type(5) { text-transform: none; color: #004c8a !important; letter-spacing: normal; } } However, this presents a problem that they really don't like... when the page is expanded the text stays all the way off to the left. The image that they have for the homepage banner has a person in the middle/right, they want the text to "not fly off into no man's land" way far out to the left, but to still stay to the left... Kind of hard to explain. Here is the website I am rebuilding, they want it to look just like this banner. As you can see, when you expand the page the text follows, until you hit a certain point. When you hit that point it stays stuck against the banner image, but not all the way to the left of the page. Almost as though there is an invisible vertical border the text is stuck to. Anything you can tell me sure would help. I thought maybe somehow if it's possible to have two columns in the banner you could then align the text to the right of the left column.. but even that would present problems. I'm really at quite the impasse. Thanks in advance.
  8. But, how can you hide things like buttons, and a whole form? the thread I linked to was only changing variables in a code block, I have no idea if it's possible to do that with two other things that are not code blocks.
  9. I am using the bedford template and basically I want to make it so that I have two entirely different pre-footers, one with a blurb and a button, the other one with a form. some pages with one, some pages with the other. I found a thread that allows for different text per page. I would use this, but I need to have a form on one, and a button on the other. It should be simple to have 2 different pre-footers. does anyone know a way that I can do this?
  10. Hey thanks for the response! I am very glad that you at least answered me. I may try doing this in developer mode. I do want to say, this is something very simple and Squarespace should make it easy to do. I will see if my client can part ways with their menu style. Either way, thanks for the link and the info.
  11. Lets try this again. The last question I posted seems to have not made it anywhere over the past 3 days. How do i nest folders in the navigation for the bedford template, or in other words make it so that a drop down can have a dropdown in it. This is very important to my client. This is very simple. If Squarespace does not allow this I may very well have to use something else. I found one thread about this and it never got answered... The next thread I found about this, they basically said "One level deep is best.", the complaints were ignored, and the question was closed... I am starting to get the idea that squarespace is not a real good company as far as support and flexibility go. i'm begging you; change my mind!
  12. So... No response. Are these types of things just impossible to do using squarespace? If so; you definitely should have told me that before I ever started using it. You definitely should have told me the type of customer support I would be getting on this forum too. Very disappointing.
  13. Seems simple enough! I am currently recreating this website In squarespace for a client. I am rather new to squarespace, this is my first project using it to recreate something. The client wants the squarespace remake to be as similar as possible to the website they already made. Everything's been going great, for the most part, only a few times I have had to mess with the custom CSS... Except when I tried to remake this page. Specifically the colored text boxes arranged side by side, one on top of another. I made two columns and started putting in each text box. I found that changing the background color of each individual box is not possible without finding the block ID and changing it yourself in the custom CSS, so thats what I did. In the old site each text box was separated by a white line, showing distinction. However squarespace merged the text so it was not possible for me to put a border around each textbox, nor was it possible for me to increase the spacing... It doesn't seem like this is going to be fixed either... thats ok. So i moved to my next idea, though this is a roundabout way of doing things, I tried putting a spacer in between each little textbox, but adjusting the spacer so that it was much smaller that normal. I thought I had finally come to a viable solution! But... upon further investigation It seems that you cannot make the height of a spacer block any smaller once you get to a certain point. So here I am, going through way to many hoops to do something so simple... believe me if I was making this site for my own purposes, i would have long since given up on this style, however, I am not. I am making something very specific for someone else's needs. If I cannot find a solution to this I will either have to approach the client and tell them "sorry, squarespace just does not allow all of the designs you want." or I will have to move to another CMS. I really don't want to do either of these, so please someone help me out! Thanks in advance.
