birdmade reacted to rwp in 7.1 change mobile store category to drop down?
@birdmade Apparently squarespace uses a few different layouts for the categories.
This one is more complex, with the items and sub items. Head to my codepen and check out "Product Cat to Dropdown Alternate".
This will only work with the parent categories and will ignore the sub items. Drop me an email if you would like me to dig into this deeper.
birdmade got a reaction from Inscape in Adding anchor links in 7.1
Robino is exactly right. Unlike with 7.0 where anchor links scroll smoothly to the next section in say, an index page, 7.1 loads the target section. Apparently it's modular containers are fused together in a new way that creates an undesirable 'page load' effect when targeting sections with anchors vs smooth scrolling to it like 7.0. Not ideal.
I've tried a few tricks but nothing has worked yet. Will post if anything changes. Hopefully their engineers can figure out how to allow for smooth anchor scrolling the way we are all used to implementing it.

Hi Christian - I found a way to make smooth scrolling work on my 7.1 website. It's still in construction and can't share but here' s how I achived it.
This works in all browsers including mobile.
1. Insert this code in the HEADER CODE INJECTION
2. Insert this code in CUSTOM CSS
3. Create your anchor links.
You will need to get the PAGE SECTION ID for the section you would want to anchor to. It looks like this: #page-section-5e2799dfc3035b3cf9e9c4d6
I have a hard time finding those IDs so what I do is right-click and inspect the section I want to anchor to and I do a search in the console and type: ID. Then you should be able to easily find all the page IDs.
Once you have your page ID, you can create text links or buttons, whatever links you want and just put the # sign before the ID so it looks like this:
That's it - smooth scrolling in all browsers and mobile. Note that in Chrome it will smooth scroll to a CODE BLOCK when using regular CODE block DIV IDs but it won't work in SAFARI / iPHONEs Mobile. Only the #page-sectionIDs work in all browsers.
birdmade reacted to brionycullin in Squarespace 7.1 - Linking navigation folder to first item in the folder
I used to be able to do this on other Squarespace templates so I'm not sure where I'm going wrong in 7.1.
I've got a folder with two pages in it, and I want the folder itself to be a link to the first page in the folder. I've tried adding <a href="website/about">About</a> into the navigation title but that's not working. Any tips?

We are in the same boat as @brionycullin - any chance there's an update to this? We've got a few folders we would like to link to summary material on 7.1. Anyway we can make the folder a link?

I too am in the same boat. I think this is a bug as going to the folder's slug directly takes you to the first page in the folder. Hopefully fixed soon.
birdmade reacted to Jo_G in How do I link a folder title within the navigation to a page?
Here's one way to solve this:
Open the folder's settings/configuration window (click its gear icon in the Pages panel). In the Navigation Title field, paste in: <a href="/PAGESLUG">NAME</a>
Replace PAGESLUG with the slug for the page you want to link to. (Make sure the / is included.) Replace NAME with what you want the folder's nav link to say. So for example, if you want the navigation link for your About folder to link to the first page in the folder, which has the page slug /contact-page, it would look like this:
I've done some testing and this works in most template families but not Aviator, Bedford, or Pacific.
In some templates it works but interferes a bit with the folder functionality. For example, in Skye the folder is collapsed, and you have to click the folder to see the pages. With this modification, people can still click the + icon to see the sub-pages, but if people just click the folder link they'll never see the the folder menu. For the same reason it might not work on mobile in some templates. Personally I'd only use this in templates where you can see the menu on hover, or the menu is permanently expanded. There's a guide that shows folder behavior by template here.
