    All of the URL mappings I have configured in squarespace do a 301 redirect from the old slug to the new slug on HTTP. Then the new slug on HTTP corrects to HTTPS via 307 redirect. I haven't found any other forums with the same issue.
    Example:
    URL Mapping configured:
    /insights-innovations -> /blog 301 Resulting redirect chain:

    Expectation:
    The 301 redirect to http:// shouldn't happen. It should just do a 301 to the new slug on https://

    You can use the full URL for the destination and you won't see the protocol downgrade.

    Hi folks, I'm an SEO professional and this is how I solved this issue using Squarespace's URL mapping system. We had a number of "alternate" versions of a home page URL that were appearing in search results, so I created the URL maps to permanently redirect those locations:
    /index.html -> / 301 /home -> / 301
    So now, mywebsite.com/index.html    -REDIRECTS TO->    mywebsite.com
    AND, mywebsite.com/home    -REDIRECTS TO->    mywebsite.com
    Basically it works like this: In redirects systems, the forward slash by itself "/" equals the domain-homepage. So those URL maps above are taking the "alternate" versions of the homepage URL (mywebsite.com/index.html, mywebsite.com/home) and pushing them to the naked slash "/" aka the domain-homepage.
    Hope that helps!

    Let me ask this, is there anyway to add custom code to the Home page? Ironically, every other page on the site allows you to hide it from indexing through a toggle and if I could hide the /home slug, I assume GSC would not see the redirect from .com > .com/home making it non-canonical.

    I am betting the solution requires custom code on the site header which is a premium business feature which is why they did this. Also this reduces the costs associated with regular indexing all of their sites. I am betting 95% of people on Squarespace have no idea their home pages are not being indexed by Google and even possibly paying for Google Ads getting little to no results.

    @knollgrind Each product details page has its own unique ID. The product page you shared has this ID: '#item-651a2f09e2260e38d2e5d5a5'. So, instead of using the section ID, if you use the product page ID, it would resolve the issue. I recommend using this Google Chrome extension to easily find these IDs on any page: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/squarespace-id-finder/igjamfnifnkmecjidfbdipieoaeghcff
    After installing the extension, when you visit any product page, simply click on the extension icon, and it will display all the IDs. Then, you can click on the ID at the top left corner of the page to copy it and replace the section ID in your code. Let me know if you need assistance in locating the product page IDs. Thanks!

    Hi community
    After a month of setting up and running our new small e-commerce business with Squarespace, everything has been great so far except one thing: we cannot work on SEO settings for individual category or sub-category pages. Our sitemap looks good as of now and all the URLs of category pages together with the slugs have been proper, SEO-optimized, and published.
    The only SEO setting we can manipulate is the "Shop" page (the master link for the Shop section). Whenever we click the setting button of a category page and rephrase the SEO description or title, the "Shop" page SEO will change reflectively, which is strange.
    Does this mean Squarespace does not support category-level pages in SEO settings? Or do I need to inject development codes to interfere with this?
    Appreciate all the feedback and helpful advice.

    Hey janto987,
    Have you found any help for this? I am having the same issue whereby I've replaced most of my fonts for basic webfonts and still the site is calling old typekit fonts.

    Hi,
    I've been trying to speed up my website by removing all of the fonts and focusing on two: Open Sans and PT Seriff.  I've gone through every heading, button, subtitle possible in site styles to know that these are the only fonts being used.  However, when using Page Speed tools I can see that my website is being massively slowed down by loading both Adobe typekit and google fonts.  Both Open Sans and PT Seriff are available in google fonts, there is no reason to load Adobe.  Is it doing this because these fonts are available in both kits?  I also ran an experiment where I used Google-only fonts, but my website was still loading typekit for no reason.
    I really would like some help with this issue, because its really hurting my SEO optimization.  Thanks!
