moushi got a reaction from byemilyjane in Adding text to a fullscreen slideshow on Ver 7.1
There is no reason on this earth that a slideshow with text overlay should be as difficult as it is. I'm on my third bout of cancelling 7.1 and having to rebuild in 7.0 because there is no way in hell my clients will be able to manage the site on their own --which is why I chose Squarespace for all of them in the first place. Nearly impossible to get a decent site without custom code; it's a process that is inefficient and costly on the build site. What took 5-10 hours takes 20-30 with the buggy platform and the need to implement code, not to mention the 3 or 4 different design areas one has to go to for any style changes "padding, font size, color, site width." It's a bad UI and a build that doesn't cater to builders. Super disappointing.

moushi reacted to paul2009 in How can I add a table?
    Original post in 2014:
Sometimes you just want one of your contributors to be able to add a table so that they can add some data, like a league table to a page or a post.
Squarespace usually make complex things seem simple (adding images to Galleries for example) but the simple task of adding a table in Squarespace is so challenging!
Yes, I know I can add a code block and add some HTML code to create the table. That's fine for me, but my clients don't want to learn HTML - they just want to edit a table like they would in any other application like MS Word - 'Create Table'.
I'm still hoping Squarespace will address this soon so we don't have to use online HTML table tools.
    Update in 2024:
It is now 10 years later (yes that's not a typo... ten years later!! ⏳) and there isn't a Squarespace Table Block built-in yet. ☹️
The good news is that Michael (Squarewebsites) built a Table Block plugin.
(These are affiliate links for products I use and love. If you make a purchase I may receive a tiny commission.)
This plugin adds a Table Block to Squarespace (both 7.0 and 7.1), allowing you to create and edit tables on the page with ease. You don't need to know any HTML table code, and it can automatically pull your table data from a Google Sheet, making it easier for clients to update their tables using a familiar tool!

Nick, that is a very simple and effective option that I can test out. It's such an oversight by @SQUARESPACE to not have a slideshow banner with the option to add text and buttons to each slide!

    Dear Squarespace team,
Full-width sliding images with the ability to place the same or different text and buttons on each image is absolutely a feature we need. I get this request on literally almost every site I build.
I believe it is a feature that would get used  millions of times over. I love what you have built and the more I get used to 7.1, I can see it's advantages. Adding this feature would make 7.1 an absolute no-brainer. Please acknowledge our collective desire to have this implemented as soon as possible.
Thank you for all you do!

moushi got a reaction from Beyondspace in How to Remove First Blog Post, Using Summary Block Feature in Banner for 7.1
    Site URL: https://moushi.co/blog
    Hey SS Circle Members,
I'm slowly, reluctantly moving into 7.1 and have a question maybe @tuanphan could help with that might help others. I'm using a Summary Block to pull the latest post from my blog, and then the active blog is underneath. As you can see on moushi.co/blog, the first two posts are the same which is of course a problem. How do you suggest I remove the first post from the actual blog page? so that the Summary Block above serves as the main "Most recent" section for the latest post, and the following posts exist in the blog below.
I've expressed my frustration to the 7.1 Product team that it's really not made for writers or bloggers at all but alas, it is what it is for now. Thank you for any and all your help.

Yep, I reached out five months ago asking for this feature. I have respect for the SquSpa team, but this is such a massive omission/oversight from 7.1, that I find myself thinking there is some other motivation that I'm missing. I'm torn between sticking with 7.0 or paying for the workaround four outside developers... which is exactly what I try to avoid by using this platform.
    Come on, team. It's time.

This is a crazy situation. Furthermore, the images that are contained with the pre-built section templates are also featured there and seemingly cannot be removed?

This is particularly annoying when trying to duplicate a site and see images from one site now in the library for a new one - madness.

    Sort it out Squarespace

    Definitely something that needs fixing.
Especially with the "Duplicate Site" feature... What if you create a "template" and want to use it for a different client... But then they have all the old photos cluttering up their page!

moushi got a reaction from janehinchliffe in Subscribe / forward buttons on a email campaign
This is a little ridiculous -- I know that in 7.1 share buttons are not an option (which I think many of us don't understand) but are forward/share buttons also not an option in Campaigns? @kerstinmartin I know you use Campaigns quite a bit, is that accurate? And if so, any ideas on this?

moushi reacted to Megalomaniac in How do I create hide/show section of an entire page of text, images and or galleries in Squarespace (spoiler function/accordian/collapse)?
I'm trying to reduce my individual portfolio project pages to a few main images and the rest of the page that may contain additional text, galleries or images, to essentially hide unless prompted by the viewer. call it an accordion or a spoiler function or collapse, not best with terminology.
I started by looking at this thread, which has a simple and elegant approach for text only.http://answers.squarespace.com/questions/72321/how-do-i-create-hideshow-faqs-in-squarespace-collapsed-text
This is great for those circumstances, but I need it to include galleries and images or the like.
Does anyone know how this can be done or a variant of it that may also work?
