    when will captions and subtitles be available on squarespace? I'm hoping soon as I'm about to launch my online course and it'll be such a help, do you know any time frame when this will be available or do we need to opt for a different platform

    If you are using Squarespace 7.1, you can hide the Quantity selector on a single product as follows:
    Edit the Product Click 'Additional Info' Add a Code Block Replace the demo HTML with the following: <style>   .product-quantity-input {     display:none!important;   } </style> Did this help? Please give feedback by clicking an icon below  ⬇️

    Yes @jaisequoia, I can see an issue where content is overflowing the mobile viewport on some pages on this site. For example, when I click the 'more videos' link, these videos overflow on the right, and this pushes the mobile nav 'burger' icon off outside the viewport too.

    Does that help?

    I'm posting here so if someone provides more clarity @AllaD you'll also be able to see it 🙂
    I'm having the same problem after recently updating this website: https://www.handyhaynets.com/allproducts/p/roundswivelsnap if you scroll down below the product description you'll see two youtube videos. The client is getting google indexing issue emails and so I just took a look and used the google responsiveness tool and all looks fine?
    Could it simply be because these videos are in the 'additional info' portion of the product page?
    Would the new product details feature that's being rolled out be a better way to add this kind of informtation? (let's face it the 'additional info' is extremely outdated and very glitchy and problematic and I would LOVE to ditch it on all my clients sites lol)
    @paul2009 any ideas?

    I'm needing guidance for a Google Search Console message indicates a 'Video page indexing issue - Video outside the viewpoint’ for a vimeo video on my clients website - here is the video url:
    https://player.vimeo.com/video/503089085?h=3dc310dbf0&app_id=122963&wmode=opaque
    Would anyone know if it is how I'm placing the this particular video within Squarespace, or an issue at vimeo's end?

    Response from Squarespace:
    Deb L. (Squarespace)
    Hello again,

    I just wanted to follow up and confirm that this is an issue on Chrome's end after further investigation. Google has intensified security measures for .zip files downloaded through Chrome. This move isn't specific to Squarespace or your store but is rather a blanket security measure. Google aims to protect its users from potential threats, and given the prevalence of malicious entities using .zip formats to distribute malware, it appears they've chosen to flag all such files as a precaution. It is a fairly recent development and, sadly, is outside of our control.

    While it can be frustrating for legitimate sellers like yourself, it's essential to understand that this is a generic warning and not a reflection of the content you provide or the integrity of our platform. We recommend reassuring your customers about the safety of your downloads and encouraging them to use updated security software on their end for further confidence.

    As an alternative, you can consider using a different format. For example, instead of using a zip use a pdf instead. That .pdf could then contain a link to the actual file. I understand this is not an ideal solution, but it is one possible solution with this Chrome change.

    Let me know if you have any further questions, Deb L.

    A temp "solution" for fellow business owners having this problem:
    The best solution I can come up with for this is to edit the download notification email that customers receive when purchasing a digital file and adding a "Google Chrome Users - Please Read" section that notes that this warning can appear when using chrome, telling them how to bypass it, and trying to re-assure them that our downloads are safe, and that this warning does not mean that any kind of virus or threat has actually been detected.
    Just sharing this in case it helps anyone else. I also added a section to our FAQs covering the same thing.
    Not everyone will read these notes but hopefully some customers will catch them and it will reduce customer support calls to some extent. This would be far less of a problem if chrome's messaging around what is basically an "are you sure?" warning didn't sound so apocalyptic.

    I appreciate you responding, but there is no way we can run a business like that! If ran a sandwich shop and every time someone bought a sandwich the packaging locked and told the customer they might get food poisoning, I don't think me having to educate them that it's really fine and to just bypass the warning is going to get me good business or a good reputation, and I'll have to deal with that on almost every sale since chrome is by far the most popular web browser. I'm having customers genuinely say WTF? and assuming we're some shady, unsafe website. It's only a matter of time before we start getting customer reviews mentioning this!
    Given that squarespace only let's us sell a single digital file, we have no choice but to compress multiple files into an archive, and zip is by far most accessible & popular archive format. If they allowed us to upload multiple files (with an total sum filesize limit) then this would resolve the problem as we wouldn't need to use zip files at all (this is what Etsy does, for example) - this would be by far the best solution, already we have some customers don't know what a zip file is either and this causes customer support issues by itself.
    I don't know if other archival formats (.rar etc) will trigger similar warnings, but those are far less well known and less widely supported without having the end user download addition software to un-archive them, which isn't really acceptable for a business either.

    Now that you (royal) mention this behaviour. I seem to recall Chrome did rejigger their download behaviour in the browser recently. That new download inbox icon on the toolbar as opposed to the previous UI. There were also some changes to the security settings also.

    jaisequoia reacted to paul2009 in Wholesale Only, Hide Products from Public & Search
    If you're using Squarespace 7.1 you should be able to create a password-protected Store page for the wholesale products. Visitors will require the (single, shared) password for this page to be able to view the products or the prices. Have you tried this and experienced difficulties?
    Another option, if you want users to have individual logons and passwords (instead of the shared password above) is to place the Store page within a member site instead. However please note that the only way to prevent someone from creating an account on your member site is to require payment to join, or to hide the signup options.

    Hi, I believe this has been (mostly) resolved at some point.
    Go to:
    - Add a new section
    - Headlines
    - One of the last options shows a banner with text and arrows indicating slideshow functionality (see attached pic)
    While admittedly being a bit hard to find it and it doesn't loop automatically by itself, seems like a pretty useful block with a couple of different design options to choose from (see second pic), though I have just used the default option myself so far.

    Dear Squarespace team,
    Full-width sliding images with the ability to place the same or different text and buttons on each image is absolutely a feature we need. I get this request on literally almost every site I build.
    I believe it is a feature that would get used  millions of times over. I love what you have built and the more I get used to 7.1, I can see it's advantages. Adding this feature would make 7.1 an absolute no-brainer. Please acknowledge our collective desire to have this implemented as soon as possible.
    Thank you for all you do!

    There is no built in design path from 7.0 to 7.1. You would basically start a 7.1 site from scratch. You can however use copy and paste for text, which can help "move" blog posts and text blocks.

    I think I figured out the easiest work around for this. Do a 301 URL redirect as described here: https://support.squarespace.com/hc/en-us/articles/205815308-URL-redirects#toc-format-redirects
    In summary, you go to settings -> advanced -> URL Mappings -> add this to the box (obviously replacing "product1" with your products URL:
    /shop/product1 -> /shop/p/product1 301
    Then your old link will just redirect to the new URL.
    This doesn't get rid of it like the original poster was hoping for but can help avoid having to make a bunch of changes to old links (or physical QR codes like the second poster).

    jaisequoia reacted to paul2009 in How can I remove the /p/ in my Product URL ?
    TL;DR
    Product URLs always include a /p/ before the customisable URL slug on Squarespace 7.1. You cannot remove or change it.
     The "p" appearing in the browser's address bar shouldn't have any negative effects for customers or merchants. However, if you are coming to Squarespace from another platform and have previously used URLs with a different format, you can use URL mappings to redirect users from your old URL to the new one with the 'p'. For example, if both your old and new sites used 'store' as the store URL slug, and the same names for the products, you could use the following mapping to automatically redirect all old product pages to the new format:
    /store/[name] -> /store/p/[name] 301 Longer Explanation
    When Squarespace overhauled Squarespace 7.1 Store pages in 2020 with the launch of "Product Collections 2.0" they introduced a number of new features that laid the foundation for modern e-commerce experiences on Squarespace stores.
    They increased the product limit from 200 products to 10,000 products on a single Store page and, to improve the experience for customers and merchants, they added support for up to 1000 categories and provided new SEO-optimized category URLs that didn't require URL queries. For example, a stationery store selling blue notebooks may have a category URL slug of /store/notebooks/blue instead of /store?category=blue.
    To accommodate the improved SEO for online stores, they needed a way to distinguish individual product pages (known as Product Detail Pages or PDPs) so they added the '/p/' in the URL slug of PDPs. For example, if you had a product called "Notebooks" and a category called "Notebooks" then
    the category URL slug would be /store/notebooks the product detail page URL slug would be /store/p/notebooks
    Note that this forum is not routinely monitored for product feature requests but if you want to raise a feature request with Squarespace, you can open a ticket through Customer Care. They'll document your feedback and share it with the appropriate team.
