I have had a few clients who are bloggers and make their money off of their blog and their community reach out about switching to 7.1 (they have had suggestions from their ad companies to do so, and want the new features).
WIth the Square Websites extension we can get the posts themselves into 7.1, but you lose all comments. It's a no-go for so many that have created a true community around their sites... Since it's going on 3 years without an ability to switch from squarespace from platform to platform, what are your thoughts...
1. Is it worth losing all that? (think 1-3 posts per week for 4-7 years) with about 3-10 comments PER POST.
2. Do you stick it out on 7.0? Hope that one day they offer the ability to keep your data and upgrade your site?
Thoughts? Solutions?
Loss of Blog Comments in 7.0 - 7.1 Switch

In case anyone is curious about the progress here (still no answer for sure). If you export to Wordpress, create a pro Wordpress account - use a plugin that is used to keep your media when exporting - export the content BACK OUT, then import it to SS, you can keep an archive of the comments. It won't have the same avatar/account info for the comment, but the name/comment/date is still there. But you lose any none text + image formatting/layout in each post so you would have to reformat EACH POST.
Plus you would have to work with the Wordpress blog url formatting (year/month/day/post-name) so. you might have to change that, on top of reformatting).
Honestly, none of these options are good when people are professional bloggers...
