Ah! I had a callrail code snippet that was blocking me from editing phone numbers. Took it out and it worked fine.

derricksrandomviews got a reaction from Chris_SQSP in What do you wish you knew before starting your blog?
Wish I had known more about summary blocks and the fact you can make a "list" of blog posts a whole lot more exciting looking with some design tweaks.

Update:
Another thing I wish I knew is that you can isolate and group blog posts using a category filtered by a hyper-link. They will show up in list layout or as featured posts, depending on how your blog is styled, and your template setting, but these posts look like they have their own 'page" without actually having to use one. So I mix things up on my site, some posts in a summary block on their own pages, and some grouped using hyperlinks. Those links can go anywhere, on the nav bar, in a folder on a button. And those links can be used outside the site, in emails, social media posts, lots of things. The url slug will take you to the first item in the folder.

derricksrandomviews got a reaction from Digitalbro in What advice would you give to someone just starting out on personal branding?
For a professional artist or photographer, just stick with your own name in the logo. It isn't unique or original to do that, but for those two groups, who they are, and what they do, are inseperable.

derricksrandomviews got a reaction from HarveyAquino in How to make image in homepage a full-bleed?
Haute and Farro, in style tweaks you can adjust the padding on both sides of the site. I assume that means you can remove it which should widen the site to full bleed.
This may help as well:

derricksrandomviews got a reaction from Kyle123 in Squarespace Portal Extension
The closet thing that Squarespace has, built in, to do this is to create a page for each person and give that page its own unique password, no user name just password, one password per page, which you would provide to the person using it to access that page.
Square space has member areas too, up to thiry. Members areas are more for e-commerce, selling online classes, subscriptions, recipes, things of that sort. There is a monthly charge from Squarespace for that service.

I agree, that is why I don't use the SS search function, and use my own image organizer.

derricksrandomviews got a reaction from lysbeth123 in Adding multiple images to gallery but they can only be done one at a time.
With 7.0 you have to have a gallery page for the summary block to see, loaded, not a gallery block and it cannot be inside an index page or the summary will not pull content from it. 7.0 summaries can also pull content from events, projects, and products page. It will pull content from a blog. 7.1 only sees content from a blog, store, or event pages. Both 7.0 and 7.1will allow gallery blocks in a blog and summaries will link and pull a thumbnail from those pages as well.

derricksrandomviews got a reaction from sisunaturals in How do you adjust the padding around a 'Quote' Content Block?
The easiest workaround is to use a text block instead of a quote block, type in your quote, place the authors name where you want it and then click the quote option " " in the text block menu bar. This adds quotes and a vertical line like a quote block but you have more control over the space.

derricksrandomviews reacted to disvisuk in Square Space Virgin - Feedback on my first site, please :)
Thanks all for your comments. I was most nervous about coming to SQSP and losing search engine rankings. I've always known that the GTMetrix type scores are getting to be more important as the web develops, and I've really tried to up those, as traditionally these web builders don't do well there.
Frankly I'm REALLY impressed, the SEO in SQSP, it's smashed us right back up to page one, but the blogs that we are writing are really taking off; consistently getting fantastic traffic. Content is obviously key with google these days.
I never thought it possible to have a platform like this which is so easy to use and will actually rank so well.
One thing I've learned that you might like, is to use Cloudflare for your DNS, it really speeds up your web load time.

derricksrandomviews reacted to gcart in Tell us about your logo!
I made my logo with Pixelmator using a screenshot from one of my banner images, made an oval, and scrawled my name. I like how the signature goes off the background
I do like it but am just about ready for a change.
Best Wishes,

derricksrandomviews reacted to paul2009 in How do I switch an existing site (on squarespace) into the new one I've designed in a different template
It’s not possible to move a website subscription between sites. You'll need to cancel the site you don’t need and upgrade the one you want to use in its place.
Check Squarespace's Refund Policy before cancelling, because they don't offer pro-rata refunds.
To cancel a site subscription:
1. Go to Settings > Billing & Account > Billing > Subscriptions.
2. Click your site subscription and then click Cancel Subscription.

derricksrandomviews got a reaction from Faye278 in Can you make a duplicate of your site?
You can also copy just one page, move it to your unlinked section work on it, enable it move it to the linked section, make it your home page, move the original one out and disable it. If your home page is a portfolio page the procedure would be a bit more complitcated, you would create a new portfolio page in the unlinked section, copy the pages in the portfolio move them to the unlinked section to work on them, when done move the new portfolio page into the linked section and all the pages as well. Then move the originals out, the portfolio out and then disable or delete. Need any more help in this regard don't hesitate to ask here.
