  1. The template family that includes Marquee has been discontinued as far a support and updates. I suggest you switch to Brine, which was the inspiration for 7.1 and use a template in that family. Here is the support information about making this change from any member of the Marquee family of templates. Unlike moving to 7.1 switching to the Bine family or other 7.0 templates is a 7.0 built in option. https://support.squarespace.com/hc/en-us/articles/115008246027-Switching-from-Marquee-to-Brine
  2. I see. I was not aware of that but I assumed there had to be a good reason.
  3. Is there a particular reason for using the members area in 7.1 when 7.0 has that also?
  4. It works because your blog page is your home page. Squarspace hides the url slug for a home page. So if your page is "blog" it will hide that but display the post slug like "blog-1" mydomain.com/blog-1
  5. /[name] -> /blog/[name] 301 This code works but it will put the blog slug back up on the address bar. Here is a link to one of my post using the above url redirect. My blog page which is in the unlinked section of my site is "stories" https://myrandomviews.com/paratrooper Watch the address bar when you click the link. Another quirk is that this redirect works intermittently.
  6. Okay, here is the way I would do it. On the middle man page put a blog summary block in a section on that page, put your blog in the unlinked section of your site. This will make the blog list appear on that middle man "The Newsroom" page and you won't need the big read more button. I do this kind of thing a lot on my site. Here is my home page: https://myrandomviews.com/ click on stories, it looks like my blog page listing, but it is actually a summary block and each item goes right to the post. The actual blog page is here: https://myrandomviews.com/stories which is in the unlinked section
  7. This is an option with your template. In edit mode, edit the header panel comes up down on the right corner, choose the desktop icon. click on header layout, and then set the logo/title where you want it, left center or right. Same can be done choosing the mobile icon. Global the first icon, the layout is fixed in place.
  8. Is it still not working? Do you want it to go to "thenewsroom" or straight to "newsroom?"
  9. If this content were in a blog post or blog summary block in a section you can schedule the publication date in advance using a category filter, On Monday, change the conten and give it a new pub date for the next Sunday.
  10. Bulk uplaod images to custom files? No way to do that. With certain 7.0 templates I do know you can create a gallery page in the unlinked section of your site. The page doesn't have to be enabled. You can upload multiple images at one time, how many depends on internet connection speed. Then you can give each image its own url link. These images will not reside in custom files they will exist on the gallery page which is not accesible by anyone other than yourself. The whole gallery is also available to post in a blog or other page using the "existing gallery" content option.
  11. Change the first three posts to a wall or grid, not a carousel and they should stack on mobile view, not hide the third one.
  12. You can adjust the last section height from medium to small. To change individual page section padding: Click Edit on a page, then click the pencil icon on a section. In the Format tab, use the Section Height and Content Width options to adjust the amount of space in the section. In the Background tab, click Full Bleed or Inset to set the width of the section content.
  13. A 7.1 template blog listing page looks a lot like a summary block. What you need to do is open the blog post settings. Go to your blog page in "pages" there are the tree dots click on that choose settings then options, there you add your thumbnail that shows up on your first post, the excerpt text block is there too, and change left justify the text there that is in that post.
  14. Yes it does, Those images are from a blog summary block. The blog page itself is most likely in the unlinked setion of the site. and those look like blog summary items and the text gets aligned in the blog excerpt under the options panel in the blog post settings. I do the same thing on my site, see it here: https://myrandomviews.com/storysummary Scroll down a bit and you will see the posts. And here as well: https://myrandomviews.com/stories/lessons
  15. Adjust the header vertical padding as low as possible. Edit the section with the title and set the height for small. Those two things will help reduce the space. Enlarge your logo as well.
  16. Comments in the blog are the best way, and a blog page is also the best way. How about this 7.1 starting design, simple layout for both blog and images, not a lot of extra stuff to get in the way: https://grove-demo.squarespace.com/
  17. One of the simplest photography sites that has been posted here for folks to look at. It is also one of the most effective for getting the photographer's "point of view" across to a visitor. Very smart site in my opinion. The only suggestions I have is to make the footer a bit sharper, add a horizontal line and underneath that another can't miss contact button. Also a simple back to top button or link in case vistors want a second look at the images. You can keep it simple by pasting this in a code block in your footer under the horizontal line: <p><a href="#" c
  18. Auto play is set by the video hosting service if available, it isn't a Squarespace setting. This support guide explains all about embedded videos in Squarespace, all templates behave the same. https://support.squarespace.com/hc/en-us/articles/360002068368-Autoplaying-videos
  19. I am a bit uncertain of what you are asking. If you are using a blog summary block, text alignment follows the way the excerpt is aligned and that is done in the blog post excerpt block itself. The code you posted would be for the summary block item not for the actual blog post excerpt. To change justificaion for one post excerpt in 7.1 go to the blog page, click the three little dots next to the post thumbnail, click settings, then options, then the text icon (next to P2) then choose left, center, or right.

  21. Hamburger menu icon is almost standard with mobile view, and many here want it on all devices so it shouldn't be a problem for the majority of viewers to your site.
  22. Sometimes this error takes place when signed in and and in configuration/design, but does not when the site is viewed as a visitor.
  23. Is Google's opinion the only one to consider? https://siipo.la/blog/is-webp-really-better-than-jpeg
  24. Log into Go Daddy cPanel. In the Domains section, click the Subdomains icon. Under Modify a Subdomain, click the Manage Redirection link to the right of the subdomain you wish to redirect. In the text box, type the URL to which you would like visitors to be redirected if they go to the subdomain (e.g. http://domain.com/optional-stuff). Click Save.
