  2. Update 5/26/2020: Squarespace has added the ability to add image descriptions/captions to 7.1 gallery sections. See here. There are some limitations, such as not appearing in lightbox view and not supporting multiple lines. So, the workaround below may still be of use. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi @dan3. Looking at the underlying gallery code, it appears that image descriptions are in-the-works to one degree or another. In the mean time, I've created a bit of code you can use to add image descriptions/captions to gallery sections in Sq

  4. Has anyone who has previously used Squarespace and was familiar with the design process tried making a new, from scratch site using 7.1? All of the Design customization is GONE! There's a super convoluted way to go in and customize in settings, but you still have way less control than before — not to mention the templated font combinations are TERRIBLE. Is there any way to go back and use the old Squarespace??! Is any one else as angry about this as I am? It's like Squarespace decided they wanted to make the design process baby boomer-friendly, since... yanno, that is who is designi

  7. I really wish Squarespace would hurry up and roll out this feature. The ShareThis buttons are ugly and criminally outdated. They looked cool in 2009, not so much now.

  8. I ran across this SS support page when researching how to delete imported images. "Deleting an image you've uploaded or a Getty Image preview removes it from the Imported tab. If you’ve used the image in multiple places, it will stay in the Imported tab until you delete all copies. If you're still seeing it in the Imported tab, you may need to empty your site's trash can." However, I'm not finding the statement to be accurate... it appears any image I import stays in the Imported tab, even if deleted from the page, not used throughout the site, and the trash is empty. Just curious if

  9. From everything I've read it looks like the move to 7.1 (and removal of specific templates in favour of design styles) means header search is now gone. Same story with the Sidebar. Both features no longer seem to be supported which is super disappointing. The irony is that the Squarespace's own sites use both of these features (header search and sidebar) heavily. They are great features, please bring them back.

  10. I've been using Squarespace for years and just tried to start a site with 7.1 and I agree, it's awful. The lack of design customizability options is completely unusable for me. If they discontinue 7.0 without making major changes to 7.1 first I'll have to stop using the platform.

  11. Just spoke with someone on chat (very good experience, by the way) and this is still not possible. The whole point of providing the ability to capture taxes separately is to make my job easier when filing with my state's taxation department. If I have to figure out which items were incorrectly priced due to non-taxability, I've lost that convenience and I might as well *not* separate taxes from my product prices. Please, developers, add this feature. Wix + Weebly handles this properly! A simple checkbox on each product would suffice. I have to admit that I'm amazed this site/product/

  12. No offense to colin.irwin, or anyone else, but this is a little bit ponderous from a user/content creator perspective. Is there any other reason for the inability to delete content that is uploaded? Just for my situation, I'm an artist, I just need one site which I have, but there is plenty of uploading and removing, as work gets older and/or you make newer better work. So there will be plenty of iterations. There are a couple ways to think about this. - I have uploaded content that is created by me, and I'm not saying anything will happen to it probably, but I therefore have no c

  14. Dear Squarespace team, Full-width sliding images with the ability to place the same or different text and buttons on each image is absolutely a feature we need. I get this request on literally almost every site I build. I believe it is a feature that would get used millions of times over. I love what you have built and the more I get used to 7.1, I can see it's advantages. Adding this feature would make 7.1 an absolute no-brainer. Please acknowledge our collective desire to have this implemented as soon as possible. Thank you for all you do!

  15. Definitely something that needs fixing. Especially with the "Duplicate Site" feature... What if you create a "template" and want to use it for a different client... But then they have all the old photos cluttering up their page!

  16. Wow! Come on Squarespace! I've been a big supporter, but it REALLY sucks to commit to the 7.1 platform and then find out that some of these basics are not supported. Please don't be such a growing disappointment.

  17. This is a joke, any standard blog page should have a share buttons readily available. Come on Squarespace, make it available, or will this be another app that we have to pay for. Starts to feel a bit like I am dealing Ryanair.

  18. Agreed, it definitely feels like it's been made to accommodate business owners who know nothing about web (and probably are only shooting themselves in the foot by doing their own website) and a big middle finger to the designers they hire to build them sites (who actually know how to give them a site with brand consistency, that navigates easily, flows through information at a good pace, etc). I like the page layout features, but good god the type and color global changes are just shit.

  20. Agree- this is definity something that needs attention. I sell product (taxable in my state) as well as a non taxable service (such as a workshop) that does not get taxed. My only option is to refund the sales tax to those who purchase a non taxable workshop-not ideal! Please add a feature to make this possible! Thank you!

  21. There is a min-height of 33vh set on sections. You need to override that to get the sections smaller. For all sections this would be: .page-section { min-height: 0 !important; } For a specific section you need to specify the data-section-id that can be found by inspecting the page code using your browser's developer tools. Somethig like this: .page-section[data-section-id="5d979fd8590a832f3c411579"] { min-height: 0 !important; }

  22. I've run into a bit of an issue with hiding individual collection pages in Squarespace 7.1. Normally, by clicking on the settings for a page, you are able to enable or disable that page. However with the new system of "Portfolio Collections" that page disable option does not exist for individual portfolio project pages. I may be mistaken, but as far as I can tell, there is no way to hide these pages (screenshots attached for reference). This is incredibly troubling as you cannot create drafts of projects, nor if you are duplicating other projects, they will be live with duplicate content

  23. Why are normal and basic e-commerce store features missing? (The elephant in the room?) Here's a list of complaints I have. My basic question is why isn't Squarespace trying to offer features to seriously compete with Shopify and others to expand their business? Why are the following missing? There's no option to sort/filter products by tags, availabilty, sales, color, or anything else. There's no built in option for product reviews. You can't expect everyone to figure out coding and troubleshooting every single time they want a basic, ubiquitous store feature. The

  25. Having the option within the WYSIWYG editor to set the appropriate rel= info is actually very important. The rel=nofollow and rel=sponsored attributes play a critical role for Google. We love the Squarespace platform, but this simple option missing is a significant problem.

  26. What's even more confounding, is that the controls are there. They simply don't work as yet. Social sharing is such an integral part of marketing for most of us, and it would seem to me that implementing this function should have been at the top of the list of things-to-do for the Squarespace team.

    I agree these are ugly. We need the option to change colours and create something less intrusive. This should be base-standard with Squarespace and can't believe it's not on 7.1!

  29. So, who might be in charge for the implementation of this to all Squarespace websites? We need it so badly, all Squarespace sites are illegal with the old cookie consent right now, the only legal solution in the EU as of today is to switch off all cookies, which is such a bad idea when it comes to all things marketing & analytics. Dear @yoshe are you involved in this?

It is not possible to modify the templates in 7.1 as much as in 7.0 They have gone back in functionality, squarespace 7.1 is made for the basic user who wants to have a website equal to any other website out there, not cool. 41. Hi there, Having fun with Squarespace 7.1 for the first time. Is there a way to generate a number of unique discount codes in batch? It is important for us to generate unique discount codes for our members. Creating them one by one is looooooooooong. So we're looking for a way to generate them in batches, and ideally export them from Squarespace for easier distribution. Alternatively, we're open to import coupons if this is also possible. Patrick

The "New Normal" for many e-commerce sites (including the one I just built for my local farmers, who are offering pre-ordering of produce for no-touch local pick-up) is ALL about pick ups. It has virtually nothing to do with shipping. The fact is, the way the Squarespace shopping cart has been configured up to now, we are stuck having to find ways to hide notes here and there on our sites, explaining why, when you get to the cart, you have to enter an address in a section called "Shipping" before you can complete your order for "Pick-up." 7.1 is horrible right?

    I don't like to complain about stuff like this, especially when I know there are teams of people who work on these services and they're doing the best they can (thank you!), but: I created an account only to gripe about how terrible of an experience I've had with 7.1. Altogether I've spent over 5 hours trying to figure out how to convert the menus in the header from horizontal format to vertical. I also wanted to put my page's title/logo at the bottom of my homepage. I've been using Squarespace for years, and have loved it and this kind of stuff was easy to do. However, I di

  47. I'm surprised that changing country in the region settings for a site keeps the default US date and time format. Are there any plans to add custom date formats or to adhere to the international ISO 8601 standard for date and time? Not being able to use YYYY-MM-DD for dates or 24 hour time format without AM/PM is currently a no-go for transferring or creating Swedish sites to Squarespace. Is there a hidden solution to this anywhere that I have missed?

  48. Yes! I have been searching the web too and just found code to do this. First you need parallax enabled in the Site Design. This code will disable it on any standalone or index page you specify. You first need to look up the data-parallax-id that is specific to the background image. Then just replace it in the code below, and add to your custom CSS. [data-parallax-id="PLACE ID HERE"] figure { transform: none !important; top: 0 !important; bottom: 0 !important; will-change: auto !important; }
