    Sitemap Issue

    Hi all. I just reported an error to SS with sitemaps. It wasn't clear how they will handle regenerations after the fix, so I'm letting everyone know in case you're impacted. It looks like the issue started around mid-May 2021. New images have been added as <image:title>Image Name - Make it stand out</image:title> and if no caption was specified <image:caption>Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.</image:caption>. This is on 7.0 and 7.1 sites. After the fix, I hope they automatically regenerate a sitemap for all impacted sites. But if not, and you (or clients) don't update often, then you'd need to keep an eye out for the fix and request a regen. If you update frequently, then it is a nonissue. Good luck!

  14. Your website looks great. Just a few things I would look at is more buttons and call to action. You want people to be directed immediately to your content/product. Make sure to add your portfolio links on the home page preferably on the top. Add more info about yourself, adds a personal touch.

  22. Hello, You can reduce the width of the blocks on mobile for the circle images and caption by using the code below. section[data-section-id="601c878e78a1067166d81580"] { @media only screen and (max-width: 640px) { #block-yui_3_17_2_1_1612735498763_6718, #block-yui_3_17_2_1_1612735498763_8361 { width: 50% !important; } } } Taking a look at your website regarding the alignment issues, it appears that you have some CSS limiting the size of the building image to 300px at a previous screen-size media query. By Removing: section[data-section-id="601c878e78a1067166d81580"] { @media only screen and (max-width: 769px) { .sqs-block-image-figure.intrinsic { max-width: 300px !important; } } } From your Custom CSS. The image will shift to the left and fill the block. The content should be aligned properly now. Hope this helps! -Dan

  23. There has been plenty of UX research and they found that they never really worked well. Most people never saw the second slide so if it was important content it may get missed. Still depending on the circumstances they can work well. They do slow down the page load though. https://medium.com/usabilitygeek/sliders-in-web-design-to-use-or-not-to-use-89487432a7f

    Feedback - Art Store

    Hello, I like the navigation on your website. 1. I definitely agree with adding short text on your first page as it's not clear who you are, why you draw, etc. It's hard to connect to you and make us want to buy your artwork (even though I am v. much enjoying it). 2. On the 'Prints' page, I would definitely appreciate to know the sizing at first glance rather than having to click into the print. 3. If you can, it might be worth adding more commission work examples. 4. Lastly, I'm not a massive fan of the loading logo. I really like it as the opening scene to your website and I love the concept, but as it happens on every click, it can be a bit tedious after a while. Good luck and best wishes selling your artwork.

  26. Hello, The epoxy art is lovely and the colors vibrant. I give a site very limited time to convince me that I can find the product of my dreams there. So, as a site visitor I want to know what serving items I might purchase: coasters, a cutting block of x size, and so on. I don't want to be required to look through the blue, green and pink collections to see what colors I might purchase one particular product in. I also want to know the type of wood used and some proof that the items are safe for food service. Hand crafted? Equally important, do you offer a particular set of products that are customized in the same abstract manner, the main difference being that each item comes in one of three colors? If that's true, when you name each separate product in the "Blue" collection, for example, a different name that seems to refer to the decorative pattern, rather than the product's function. So, I'm going to assume that if I ordered three "Rivers," I'm going to get three exact replicas of what I see in the photo. Good luck!

  27. Here is the basic effect. I set the content width of the page section to custom 100. You can of course put any block(s) you want in the middle area. Then I threw on some CSS to get the section to be full-bleed. Once you get the basic effect started and are happy with the direction it is going hit us up for the CSS. v7.1 has only one template. What SS calls templates for v7.1 are a starting point of colors and fonts. Please see Adding content with blocks - Add blocks to a page and Resizing blocks. Let us know how it goes.

  28. @senecabryson Thanks for bringing this up again. I recently learned a better and easier way to do this and I hope it works. Try adding the below code to your custom CSS. .header--menu-open .header-display-mobile .header-title-logo a { background-image: url("https://static1.squarespace.com/static/5fda74d2609d110fc83247da/t/60c793c9b664f91202956aa7/1623692233222/drb+black.png"); } @tzercarnt I want to recall my earlier post. Try the below code on custom CSS: .header--menu-open .header-display-mobile .header-title-logo a { content: url("URL OF YOUR BLACK LOGO"); }

  30. What you want is a fixed element, not a static one. It is done by using position:fixed attribute. Here is an example: <div id="element"> </div> <style> #element { height:100px; width:100px; background:red; position:fixed; } </style> Try pasting the above code in a code block and the element will be fixed at the top-left corner even when you scroll. You can use top, left, right, and bottom properties to fix the permanent position of the element.

    New Google Analytics Tag

    Hi @TFC - it's easy to get confused about how to implement Google Analytics on Squarespace right now! From your post it sounds like you had Google Tag Manager (GTM) code installed on your site previously and you are looking to add a GA4 property? If that's the case, first you would want to reinstall your GTM code snippets, and then second, use a new GA4 Config tag within Google Tag Manager to start loading the GA4 tracking code on the site. We just published an updated guide to implementing Google Analytics on Squarespace here (although this doesn't cover the GTM option yet). Reply if you still have questions!

  37. Hi!!! Can we PLEASE get some help with this? Although I'd love to display 10,000 products in my shop, my customers can't stand sifting through even 20 products let alone 200. The search bar doesn't really cut it and since I've already purchased the advanced plan I'm really not okay with spending more on coding or plug ins. Are we waiting for a contract to end? I'm confused why they have a plug-in but aren't offering to advanced plan members at least. I love squarespace and brag about how it's better than shopify but for shops... We need help managing this.

  39. I did the same as twobeatsahead two days ago, and can confirm it works. I thought it was something in my Custom DNS section under the Google domain settings. I wiped all records out and only had the three required for domain verification...and nothing. It turned out it was the records under the Synthetic Records section. (Thank you Chris from SS support for pointing that out). Chris from Squarespace told me what record needed to be edited, and what it needed to be changed to. The issue is that a Google Workspace synthetic record can't be edited, it needs to be completely deleted (as mentioned above). Yes, it is scary, and your email will be down while you make the changes. I recommend opening a support chat with SS so they give you the edit, copy it, open a support chat with Google, explain what you need done, and paste the change that SS gave you. Google will walk you through every step, as they did with me. As soon as I hit save, they had me check if the domain was verifying on SS, and it was. Instantly, no down time, and email was up. It doesn't take the 48 hours you might see, so don't be scared of that.

  40. I had this same problem and finally resolved it. The instructions for this are incomplete. Follow them until you get to bullet number 7, the last action in the list. It says, "Delete the other SPF records (the ones that don't include squarespace), then save again." This is actually complicated and a little bit scary for a Google Workspace. You will actually have to delete the entire synthetic record because that is the only option. I spoke to Google about this and they advised the following: First, copy the Google Workspace synthetic record in its entirety. (I copy and pasted into a spreadsheet.) Next, delete the Google Workspace synthetic record. This is the scary part. Now, in "Custom resource records" you will add back only two items from the synthetic record that you copied and deleted. The first one is the MX record. You'll notice that you need to add each mail server of this record in its own form. Then add your second record, the " google._domainkey" also referred to as the DKIM record. Now go back to squarespace and verify your merged records.

    1 point
  44. Just stunning that this extremely basic functionality isn't already part of Squarespace, seeing as it's been requested - vehemently - since 2017 at least. I found all these delightful threads full of people who would love to be able to do something like, say, use the same form they created on one page on another, or copy/paste a section of laboriously arranged blocks so that they needn't recreate hours of work over and over. Each of these threads ends with "perhaps you should request this feature!" So, exactly what does it take to get Squarespace to even notice repeated, consistent requests for a feature from multiple users over the course of multiple years? Are we expected to convey our requests via a note tied to a brick thrown through the home office window? I'm willing to do that if it'll spark a little activity on the backend. Perhaps the feature we need to request is a REQUEST FEATURE feature, since the one we currently are being repeatedly told to use is completely nonfunctional. Squarespace charges a truly shocking amount for a desperately mediocre service; the least y'all could do is actually pay attention to your customers.

For an upload logo, use Center Header Logo and for site title text use Center Site Title. // Center Header Logo // @media only screen and (max-width: 640px) { .header-title-logo { width: 120%; text-align: center; } } // Center Site Title // @media only screen and (max-width: 640px) { .header-title-text { width: 120% !important; text-align: center !important; } }

  50. Hi, 1. I see you used Code Block to create this. I think you can use Image Block, Markdown Block or Text Block + CSS (you can create first, I will give CSS for free) 2. You can use CSS Flexbox or Grid to equal height, add this to Home > Design > Custom CSS @media screen and (min-width: 768px) { div#page-section-5ec2ed8df2a1a93da4d70eac { /* set grid 3 items per row */ .span-12>.row.sqs-row:nth-child(6) { display: grid; grid-template-columns: repeat(3,1fr); grid-column-gap: 50px; grid-row-gap: 10px; } /* remove blank columns */ .span-12>.row.sqs-row:nth-child(6) .span-1 { display: none; } /* set fullwidth content in columns */ .span-12>.row.sqs-row:nth-child(6)>div:not(.span-1) { width: 100%; background: #f0dcd0; } /* reset row width */ .span-12>.row.sqs-row:nth-child(6) { margin-left: 5vw; margin-right: 5vw; } /* fix bug */ .span-12>.row.sqs-row:nth-child(6):before { grid-column: 1 / span 4 } } }
