Hi all! I'm really excited for this new Club for graphic designers. I'd love to start this thread for people to share a bit about themselves, their business, and what they'd like to get out of a subcommunity like this. Let me know if you have any questions about posting, creating Clubs, or managing Clubs! -Maddie, Circle Community Coordinator

Is Squarespace right for my site?

If you have a WordPress website and want to move it to Squarespace, there's a guide to help you get started. 1. You'll want to import your "500 individual pages" as "posts" into a Squarespace "Blog" page. They don't need to be blog posts, it's just a term. If you try to add them as individual pages, you'll have issues with the page limits on Squarespace. Whilst in theory you can have up to 1000 pages, it's not a good idea to add more than 400, otherwise the site may load slowly, especially on mobile devices. 2. You can expect Squarespace to cost $18 per month. There's a cheaper plan ($12) but it's too restrictive and I don't recommend it. 3. You can import the following content from WordPress: Attachments Blog pages, blog posts, and authors Categories Comments Individual images Site pages Tags It isn't possible to import: Plugins Gallery images Image captions Images saved in your Media Library, but not attached to any posts or pages, won't import. Mobile Cart View

When considering the "optimised" cart view, bear in mind that visitors to your site may have different mobile devices, with different screen sizes. Squarespace have already optimised the mobile cart view for the best user experience on a range of devices, but if you make changes to the CSS you may make it unusable, increasing cart abandonment rates. For example, this is how the cart currently looks on iPhone X. Prices are clipped and the announcement bar is obscured.

    Image display on Social Media

I am having the same issue as Pepin and Dave. Two shared posts from our Web site earlier in the week (on Monday and Wednesday) posted to Facebook as expected: with the link and the article image. The third link I shared to Facebook (on Friday) shows the link, but the image is the dreaded black box. I used the Facebook debugger tool and the image showed up there as expected yesterday; today, I see the "missing image" icon. I do get this warning in the debugger: The following required properties are missing: fb:app_id. This same error showed up yesterday when I could see the expected image and also today when I get the missing image icon. Not sure why this is an issue now when we've changed nothing on the Web site or the Facebook page in the last two days. Help would be greatly appreciated!

This isn't something that you can achieve with some CSS or with a feature of the Skye-family template (Tudor is part of the Skye-family) or with some CSS. However, it could be achieved with some custom-written JavaScript. The Blog Option tweak "Promoted Meta" would need to be set to "Author" (within Site Styles) so that the script could determine the author of each post. It would then read the author details of each post and display the correct image. If this helps you, please click "Like" below ⬇️

    Shipping Source

In the US, you can automatically calculate shipping fees based on FedEx, UPS, and USPS rates using the Carrier calculated shipping option. There aren't any automated solutions for other carriers or for negotiated rates, but you can manage these manually using Depending on weight shipping and one of the excellent new Squarespace extensions for shipping like Shippo. The website is really well done. The initial banner picture is a little grainy, but this might be the resolution on my screen. Great work! I'd love some feedback on my site also. The first attempt I've made. https://magenta-gopher-xkxw.squarespace.com/

Hello, the thing I would improve is the resolution of some of the photos on your websites! Other than that I think it's suited for the purpose.

Copy and paste, that is what I did when I moved from a community blogger's site to my own website. That being said, 7.1 is one template built to look very much like the very successful Brine Family of templates with a streamed down configuration platform.

This is the only info I found. I have never attempted to do any of this, but I think its your only option. https://support.squarespace.com/hc/en-us/articles/206566687-Exporting-your-site

    Adding anchor links in 7.1

Here's how I did it: 1. Name and enter your link: ex: #about 2. Add your anchor: code block: <p id="about"></p> 3. Smooth our scroll: Open custom css and add: html { scroll-behavior: smooth; } Site is still private for a client but I can link to it as proof once it's live.

If you're using Squarespace 7.0 (NOT 7.1): Use Chrome browser and use it to install the following Chrome extension - https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/squarespace-collectionblo/bggpdfnccodbnmcndckmeehdjkjojkde Visit the page you want to modify the text on and click the extension's icon An overlay will appear showing all of the permanent collection and block ids on the page Click the top left, collection overlay item and it will copy to your clipboard Now take a copy of your existing font color code and prefix it with the collection id. Paste the copy *after* the code you already have. That sets up the css so that it tweaks the color for everything and then applies the second color tweak only to relevant collection. Without seeing your code it's difficult to give a specific code example but it's probably something like @media only screen and (max-width: 640px) { #something .something { color: red; } } You would modify it with the collection ID as follows @media only screen and (max-width: 640px) { #collection-535e7627e4b0140e264640b8 #something .something { color: blue; } } NB - Above I use a collection ID from a page on my site - you need the one from your page.
