    Upgrading Personal to Ecommerce

You can upgrade from Personal to a commerce-enabled plan without making changes to the site. You can keep your current template and design. However, it is worth noting that your current template (Aviator-family ) was launched in 2012 and is therefore quite dated in terms of features and capabilities for commerce. If you upgrade your billing plan and continue to use the same template, you will only have access to the 'Classic' product features, rather than the 'Advanced' ones. 'Advanced Products Pages' provide these additional features: Quick View Image Zoom Advanced hover options Customizable Share buttons Product waitlists If you want to use a newer Squarespace 7.0 template (the Brine-family is recommended for commerce) you can switch templates to try this out without affecting live users, or you could start with a duplicate of your website and modify this instead. If you would prefer to use one of the latest Squarespace 7.1 templates, you will need to start from scratch, as they have yet to launch an upgrade/migration tool from 7.0 to 7.1. I hope this helps. -Paul

    7.1 is horrible right?

I'm working with a new 7.1 system after maybe thirty or more paid V7.0 (or earlier) site builds. Not happy at all. Instead of listening to the design community and building more powerful, flexible, unique features they, instead, took current features and simplified them for newbie designers. The only improvement here will be to Squarespace's bottom line as they court young small business owners that don't (yet) see the value in hiring a web designer. These small business owners will invariably kludge together a website that will look like all of their competitors. I believe this is entirely the wrong direction for this web platform when they could have put brain power into improving the features while adding a way to abstract away confusing bits shown to these new designers. Gallery Summary on 7.1

It's absolutely ridiculous... I love a lot of the features of 7.1 but removing gallery pages and blocks is a total step backwards!

If those methods don't work you can always try the lightbox anything plugin - check out the reviews. A lot of designers have used this for bio pages.

I'm also a bit frustrated with the lack of a proper gallery block! My website relies on them as "custom ad spots" for future advertisers, a way that I can update the gallery with a new asset and it's updated across my entire site. I can't figure out a workaround.

Another vote for this. I see no good reason why Portfolios and Galleries should not be available in Summary blocks. The workaround that I just had to do for a portfolio was to fake it using single images and hard coded links, which is inefficient, doesn't update and could lead to broken links. 🤯
