    @JeroenB @rosieames I posted a quick guide to help you add the year to Squarespace 7.1 blog posts: https://sf.digital/squarespace-solutions/date-styles-on-squarespace-71-blog-posts Let me know how you get on.

    You use SS 7.1? All sites in version 7.1 share the same template. That means: They all have the same style options and features. They all use sections to add content to pages. There isn't a need to switch templates, so that option isn't available in version 7.1. Instead, to try out different looks for your site: Change your global styles. Add new pages with different starter layouts. Create new sections to change a page's feel. For example, add a section with a background image at the top to create a page banner.

    Hello - I am using the features layout / template on a page. I would like to add more rows of the block combination (image, header, text) - ie it gives me 3 rows of content, I need 10. Is there a way to copy and paste these rows / blocks so that I don't need to add each piece manually?

    Custom CSS doesn't always load properly

    Site URL: https://www.yeahsure.co/ I've used some custom CSS to help make some elements on page a little more dynamic but unfortunately they don't always load. Sometimes I'll have to go into the Editor and open up Custom CSS and then only will the elements load up properly on my page. It seems a little odd that they load sometimes and then sometimes I have to open up Custom CSS to activate it. Has anyone had this issue before? Is there a reason why this is occurring?
  5. 1 point
    Hi @Ima, I was having the same issue. I submitted a ticket to Squarespace and they identified that there was an issue with their code. It has now been resolved. To get your site back up and running you should just need to update your local Squarespace Server by opening a new terminal and running this command: npm install -g @squarespace/server You should now be on version 1.6.2. When you load up your site, you might need to refresh the content cached by adding the query ?nocache=true to the end of localhost:9000; like this: http://localhost:9000/?nocache=true That will get you the latest content from your site. I hope this fixes it for you. In the future, try contacting Squarespace directly too, they have always been very helpful to me.

    In theory I would disable social accounts in settings, that should drop all the icons and them use social blocks to add the ones I want back into the footer of the pages where I want them. Others here may have a better approch.

    Is there a way to create anchor links where the slug portion is dynamically generated to just be "this" page? I'd like to not have to edit all my links after cloning the page. They all jump down to sections on the same page.

    Change blog post date to include year

    I agree Squarespace's priority is (understandably) to develop enough to make it workable and I expect they'll fix these design flaws soon. I will follow up on your question about the other date, but it probably won't be today as I'm extremely busy. Stay safe. P

    Change blog post date to include year

    You are a hero! Thank you! Is it a lot of extra trouble to get the date consistent site wide? So to also change it in the /blog page? In my opinion this should be standard to begin with and it's a flaw in the squarespace 7.1 templates.

    Making Logo Larger

    You need to adjust max-height in this case. Add to Home > Design > Custom CSS /* resize logo header */ /* by tuanphan */ .header-title-logo img { max-height: 200px; }

    Add to Home > Design > Custom CSS /* hide side navigation */ /* tuan 5mi */ a.Index-nav-item[href="#aircraft-interiors"] .Index-nav-text { visibility: hidden; } Do simiar for other items, remember changing #aircraft-interiors

    When you build a new site on 7.1 you choose a 7.1 "template" which is really just a layout, color palate design different from another 7.1 "template" . After its built if you want to change "templates", you tweak your site to look like a "template" you didn't choose. Unlike 7.0 where changing from one template to another in the same family is one thing but can be quite a challenge and a huge change in style and features from one template family to another. The second usually requires a new buildout.

    CSS CODE FOR AUDIO BLOCKS

    Hello, I am attempting to change the code for my Audio Blocks in the Fiver template to match my site colors (I use the audio blocks to post episodes of a podcast.) I was able to change the background color of the main bar and the color of the tile font but can not seem to change the author text color, play button or progress bar (one trick was to realize the title font was set for the LIGHT setting, not the DARK setting of Audio block). Was hoping for some suggestions. Here's the code I've been using and thank you in advance Tim. .sqs-widgets-audio-player { background: #2f518f !important; background: -webkit-linear-gradient( #2f518f) !important; border: 02px solid #fff952 !important; border-radius: 0px 0px 0px 0px; color: #fff952; } .audio-author { color: #fff952 !important; } .audio-title { color: #fff952 !important; } .volume .bar.active { border-right-color: #fff952 !important; } .volume .bar { border-right-color: #fff952 !important; } .progress { background: none repeat scroll 0 0 #707070 !important; } .controls { color: #fff952 !important; }

    Hi Guys, I'm an artist and would like to offer personalized e-cards with corresponding mp3 digital downloads of original music. I understand that it is not possible to offer variants of digital items, so I will need to make each a unique product. I believe I can create the products and set up the form for personalization without an issue. However, I am wondering if it's possible to implement my vision for delivery. After a person selects, personalizes and purchases an image/music combo, I would like the recipient to get an email with a standard subject ('A gift for you!'). The body of the email should display the image, the personalized message, and a link to the mp3 download. Is this possible? Any help would be appreciated!

    To remove the 'Featured' heading from all Carousel Summary Blocks, add this to Design > Custom CSS: /* Remove 'Featured' Heading from Summary Block Carousel */ .sqs-block-summary-v2 .summary-block-setting-design-carousel .summary-heading { display: none; }

    How can I add a table?

    Sometimes you just want one of your contributors to be able to add a table so that they can add some data, like a league table to a page or a post. Squarespace makes most complex things seems simple to do (adding images to Galleries for example) but this 'simple' thing seems so challenging! Yes, I know I can add a code block and add some HTML code to create the table. That's fine for me, but my users just want to do it like they would in any other application like MS Word - 'Create Table'. I'm still hoping Squarespace will address this soon so we don't have to use online HTML table tools.

    Hi @dan3. Looking at the underlying gallery code, it appears that image descriptions are in-the-works to one degree or another. In the mean time, I've created a bit of code you can use to add image descriptions/captions to gallery sections in Squarespace 7.1 . View Demo Site JavaScript Insert via sitewide footer code injection. If you only want to add descriptions to some (not all) galleries, pass your own CSS selector into addGalleryItemDescriptions() (for example: "section[data-section-id='5db1f73f7a30760db464bb02']") For images within a targeted gallery that you do not want a description to appear, you must enter a space as the description (otherwise the filename will show). <script> /** * Add descriptions/captions to galleries in Squarespace 7.1. * JavaScript * © @brandon (Squarespace Forum User) * This software is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied. */ document.addEventListener("DOMContentLoaded", function() { addGalleryItemDescriptions(); function addGalleryItemDescriptions(gs, gdzs) { var a=['querySelectorAll','section.gallery-section,\x20.gallery-lightbox','length','[class*=\x27-item\x27]:not([class*=\x27item-\x27])','getElementsByTagName','img','alt','trim','createElement','div','className','gallery-item-description','textContent','appendChild'];var b=function(c,d){c=c-0x0;var e=a[c];return e;};(function(c,d){var e,f,g,h,i,j,k;e=document[b('0x0')](c?c:b('0x1'));i=e[b('0x2')];while(i--){f=e[i][b('0x0')](d?d:b('0x3'));j=f[b('0x2')];while(j--){g=f[j][b('0x4')](b('0x5'))[0x0][b('0x6')][b('0x7')]();if(g){h=document[b('0x8')](b('0x9'));h[b('0xa')]=b('0xb');h[b('0xc')]=g;f[j][b('0xd')](h);}}}}(gs,gdzs)); } }); </script> CSS Insert in "Customer CSS", via the CSS Editor. The CSS below is very basic, adding a white box around the description and generally placing it at the bottom. You can customize to your heart's content. /** * Add descriptions/captions to galleries in Squarespace 7.1. * CSS * © @brandon (Squarespace Forum User) * This software is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied. */ body { width: 100%; } section.gallery-section [class*='-item']:not([class*='-item-']):not([class*='-reel']):not([class*='-slideshow']) { position: relative; } .gallery-item-description { font-family: "Roboto", sans-serif; font-size: 16px; color: black; } .gallery-grid, .gallery-strips, .gallery-masonry, .gallery-reel, .gallery-fullscreen-slideshow { .gallery-item-description { position: absolute; width: 100%; bottom: 0; background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0.7); padding: 2% 6%; box-sizing: border-box; } } .gallery-slideshow, .gallery-fullscreen-slideshow, .gallery-reel { .gallery-item-description { padding: 10px 25px; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 0.2s; } .gallery-slideshow-item:not([data-in="true"]), .gallery-fullscreen-slideshow-item:not([data-in="true"]), figure[style*="-9999"] { .gallery-item-description { opacity: 0; } } } .gallery-slideshow { .gallery-slideshow-list { min-height: 60vh; } .gallery-slideshow-item-wrapper, .gallery-item-description { flex: 1 1 auto; } } .gallery-reel { .gallery-item-description { text-align: center; left: 50%; transform: translateX(-50%); } &[data-width="inset"], &[data-width="inset"] { .gallery-item-description { max-width: 88vw; } } &[data-width="full-bleed"] { .gallery-item-description { max-width: 100vw; } } } .gallery-lightbox .gallery-item-description { margin-top: 1em; padding: 1em 2em; background-color: rgba(225, 225, 225, 1); } This is of course experimental. Do let me know how it works for you, or if you have questions. If you reply to this post, please do not quote the code in your reply. Doing so will create copies of the code which A) I would prefer not be copied and B) will propagate old versions of the code which are likely to fall out of date. -Brandon

    Can each Block in the layout engine have its own background colour? This would be a big way to customize the look of the templates. This has been discussed various times on here but I don’t think I’ve seen a definitive simple answer – in particular there’s been a lot of discussion across various threads that block IDs YUI seem to change so targeting a block ID with color doesn’t seem to work permanently. Colored blocks are pretty standard now on major websites as a way of structuring different types of content. See the examples below:

    How can I add a table?

    I tried many suggestions to make tables - this answer details the best way I've found to add tables to Squarespace. Custom Table Block [Updated 2019] The best solution I have found for responsive and well designed tables on Squarespace is the Custom Table Block that can be purchased as a plugin. Once added, you can add tables just like other standard Squarespace blocks on any page. If your table contains more than a few rows/columns you can add your data to individual Google Sheets and then link them to a Table Block. It's by far the easiest way to add Tables to Squarespace. Convert Table to HTML If the customer already has the table in a Word document, I'll use the excellent free Word to HTML tool by Olly Cope. I paste in the table and it will convert it to HTML. Create HTML Table If I don't already have the table I will create it using the excellent HTML table generator at Tables Generator with the CSS option turned off. Use a Code Block When the HTML has been generated, I add it to a Code Block on the Squarespace page. I replace the initial <table> tag with the following: <table class=mytable> Add some Custom CSS So that the table is formatted to match the style of the site I then add a few lines of CSS to the Custom CSS page. Something like: .mytable { border: 3px solid #5f102b; background-color: white; th { padding: 6px; height:40px; color: #eeeeee; background-color: #5f102b; } td { padding: 6px; border:1px solid #f1eaf2; } tr:nth-child(odd){background-color: #f1eaf2} }

    I think a color selector should be introduced to the block builder by Squarespace, the same way it's built into the style settings. This way users can easily choose the color for each block.
