  1. Site URL: http://myautismally.org/search Version 7.1 - Please fix the built-in Search function ... numerous issues: The following is intended to be constructive. 1. In-spite of the help articles the search only works on blog and groups pages, sadly we wasted too much time using the layout template to build pages only to find search doesn't work. 2. Note - the Search does appear to work, for a split second I see results from other pages, but then those disappear and are replaced with the "Your search did not match any documents." 3. Clean up the documentation - if Search doe

  2. I'm a freelance designer/developer who's still learning some of the ropes. I'm fairly experienced with Wordpress (but still have lots to learn there too!) but am currently working with a client to redesign their Squarespace site. I've learned that unlike with Wordpress or Drupal, there's no support to create a staging site in Squarespace to make major changes without changing (and potentially breaking) the live site. From browsing this forum, I know I'm not the only one who finds that frustrating. Anyway: my client has an existing Squarespace site, and they want a thoroughly redesigned site

  3. Site URL: https://www.damoncameron.com/ I'm wondering if there is a CSS work around to have each video playback in full screen by default once the play button is tapped? Rather than having to tap the 'full screen' button in the vimeo or youtube player which is clunky and unnecessary in this day and age. For mobile devices its pretty much essential for clean, impactful viewing. Many thanks

  4. Hey Squarespace Circle, I've e-mailed Squarespace many times but haven't gotten an answer this past year. We love our website and the functionality of it, but we are still torn with how subscriptions are run through e-commerce. We are not fans of shopify, we don't like the functionality, but 2020 may have us switch. This is what we are looking for: our subscription is a special order, so we can't ship them the minute they are ordered. As a solution for now, we will keep them in our shipping queue until it's time to ship. We only ship them monthly, because our business is in specialty

  5. Hi Recently coming back to squarespace after a long time away. Quickly I am remembering why I left - the beautiful websites back by a painfully limiting editor with a severely limited range of features. Is there any way to get secondary navigation/footer navigation on Squarespace 7.1? This was something that I remember from 7.0 but it seems to have gone. If it has, what on earth is the reasoning? I get not giving us options in the first place but taking away options that were already there and are very common website features? This really is taking the mickey. Cheers if any

  7. Can you share link to your site?

  8. Yes @mtbracer, that will happen if the mouse pointer moves outside of the area occupied by the nav folder link. The way to prevent this is to increase the padding around the nav folder link. For example, something like this: .header .header-layout-nav-right .header-nav .header-nav-item--folder .header-nav-folder-content { top: 54px; } .header-nav .header-nav-item--folder { padding-bottom: 26px; margin-bottom: -26px; }

  10. Thank you. I just tweaked your code to work on my site, 7.1 Here is code /* 768 for tablet - desktop - 992 for desktop */ @media screen and (min-width:768px) { /* hide navigation */ .header-nav { display: none; } /* Hide header button */ .header-actions { display: none; } /* show burger */ .header-burger { display: flex; } /* Show overlay mobile menu */ .header--menu-open .header-menu { opacity: 1; visibility: visible; } }

  16. Confirm that you're logged into the correct Squarespace site. In the Home Menu, click Settings, and then click Domains. Click Use a domain I own. Enter the full domain name you're transferring in the Domain Name box, and then click Continue.

  18. Hey there, Going to preface that I am not a coder. I poke around and add custom code until I break the site, then I try to fix it to the way I like it. The following code worked for me on my site: http://mattehue.com : @media screen and (min-width: 1px) { .header-layout-nav-right .header-nav-list { display: none; } .header-burger { display:flex; } .header--menu-open .header-menu { opacity: 1; visibility: visible; } } You're basically telling the browser that at all times—anytime the screen is greater than 1px wide—to hide the web nav, display the hamburger menu, the

  19. That doesn't work in 7.1 yet. What will happen with this code / solution is when you click the link it will load the section but it won't scroll down to it.

  22. Hi there! I know it's been a while and I was wondering what you ended up doing? I'm in a similar situation and thought I could recreate the client's site in a new trial site and then switch over their domain but I think they'd have to pay for hosting again or create the site and then take time to manually transfer it from the temp site to their current site which would require their site to be offline (as you mentioned) while I make the changes. What worked for you?

  23. Update 5/26/2020: Squarespace has added the ability to add image descriptions/captions to 7.1 gallery sections. See here. There are some limitations, such as not appearing in lightbox view and not supporting multiple lines. So, the workaround below may still be of use. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi @dan3. Looking at the underlying gallery code, it appears that image descriptions are in-the-works to one degree or another. In the mean time, I've created a bit of code you can use to add image descriptions/captions to gallery sections in Sq
